Working on a custom tubing plan and I can either buy a case that is 200$ more and has too much room.... or convert my card to they Hydro Copper.  Wondering if anyone has done this, or if it's even possible.

I'll let someone with an official answer chime in, but I don't see why not.  They sell the hydro copper kits (I put them on my FTW3s) to go from Air to Hydro Copper.  All it is is a cooler swap, though they are a $200 kit.

Well the hydro copper block 400-HC-1489-B1 for the 2080ti series does have your model included as a compatible part so i would go that route.

Hello Nazarus,

You can convert the card to a hydro-copper. Please keep in mind for any warranty claims, you would need to return the card back to the original factory conditions (reinstalling the hyrbid). Keep in mind you're opening the card at your own discretion, any physical damages done would void the warranty. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact me through the forums or contact our Customer Support Team at 1 (888) 881-3842.

Regards,
Thomas N.

Conversion completed.  One hidden screw in order to remove the larger heatsink.   Also had to remove the brace for the water tubes.  I would recommend taking that off after the larger heatsink.  Felt like it was hung under the larger heatsink, so rather than pry I came back to it last.  Once I did this that brace lifted right off the card.

My final recommendation, is to save all the thermal pad tape covers.  If you aren't familiar with what I'm talking about, it's the blue tint covers that you peel off the thermal pads attached to the hydro conversion.  You can reuse these and cover all the thermal pads that you are storing should you have to reassemble the card for warranty claims.  In my case, was great 1 for 1 swap.  Will save dirt and such from building up on the pad.

Going to move the the case project soon.

Have you installed water blocks before? How was working with the Hydro Copper kit overall? I am considering putting one on my Kingpin but doing a water block install for the first time gives me a fair bit of anxiety lol.

If you've never worked on electronics before I would watch some YouTube videos on water block installations, watch the Gamers Nexus tear down videos on the KingPin 2080 Ti, they're great, informative and should help with disassembly.  It's not so much that it's hard but you need to be informed and researched a bit before starting and then follow EVGA instructions they included in the box or online install guides.  Good luck!

Excited to pull my system together but my progress comes at opportunity. 2 young kids eat up most of my day. I build in the dark of night. Interesting part is going to be doing the tubing with the woosh of the heat gun at 10pm+ at night.
