Well after 4 1/2 years of almost 24/7 continuous service either my X99 FTW or my 5930K gave up the ghost. Not sure which it is but it doesn't post anymore. Unfortunately I don't have the cash to replace it right now due to paying for vacation that the family and I go on next week. So a moment of silence for our fallen folder/cruncher...

Been thinking about an AMD build anyway, so I suppose this will push me along on that lol. So if you happen to see no output from me this is why. I will return at some point just don't know when at this time. So please keep a light on for me 😋

I'll guess you have already tested the PSU & GPU & tried to strip the MB to Minimum hardware - 1 RAM .... 1 GPU

Been down the list already. Only thing I havent done it take the board out of the case and check it on a box. It's hard line water cooled so that doesn't sound like fun lol.

I appreciate the thought, and I hope it's great also. First vacation in 3 or 4 years. Kids are excited.

Hadn't thought about that. Don't think it'll help, but it never hurts to try.

Dude, so freaking sorry to hear about the hardware loss. Definitely pouring one out for a lost comrade!
Focus on that vacation and give your kids something to remember, 100%!
And for the AMD plans, I whole-heartedly back an AMD based build. The Ryzen chips have been WONDERFUL performers for me and my friends and we're NOT AT ALL light duty on our hardware. These chips are the current best bang for the buck and additionally, anytime a chip comes out that pushes Intel to step up their game, it's a winner!
Keep us updated with your findings on the hardware, dude!

/Salute.  Always sux to have a system go down like that.  I'd most def give an AMD some real thought.  My newest system is Threadripper based and 'tis a beast.  Anyway, hope to see you back in the fold soon as you can, only little pun intended

Sorry for your loss zophar. I have 2 of those boards running 24/7 and shudder a bit to think one or both might drop out. I just run cheap 6 core xeon chips from fleabay to fold on the cards with. I may have a spare 2011 v3 chip floating around if you need (not sure). I definitely have a couple of  3x sli x58's (populated) if you need one. I have tested the board but not past 1 gpu yet.
    Enjoy that vacation
