Hello.
I upgraded to an Asus Z390 from my EVGA X99 Micro 2, the z390 Asus has no support for windows 7 but I don't like the board anyway...

Looking at the EVGA Z370 Micro which seems to have win7 support to replace the asus.

Does the EVGA Z370 Micro ATX support Core i9-9900K 3.6GHz (Coffee Lake) ? And Windows 7..

Thanks

    Hello Rusty,

Unfortunately, I believe after the Z170 (6th Gen Processors) Microsoft/Intel has dropped the support for Windows 7. It would appear, if you use those specified components, you would likely have to use Windows 10 if you intend on staying with the Microsoft Platform. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us through our Customer Support Line 1 (888) 881-3842.

Thomas is correct Microsoft decided the newer CPUs would not get backwards Windows 7 support. Windows 10 is a fine operating system and you can find legitimate keys for it at a good price unless you want a retail copy.

    Hi,

It seems the EVGA Z370 Micro ATX,supports i9 9900k going from the spec details, and they have an option in bios to install Windows 7 ?
at least on the 370 FTW, I assume the 370 boards have the same bios options for this.

    Anyone using this setup.

I just hate Win 10 seems to be just DX12 and a load of tracking / data gathering, with loads of services coughing away in the background.

    Thanks

Thanks, I already have Win 10 lite version, and even that is bloated with useless services, hence the reason to go back to 7..

    Hello Rusty,

I definitely agree with you, there are certain things you can do to prevent telemetry in the background (unfortunately, you'll probably want to google that). If i had the choice, I'd definitely stick with Windows 7 as a personal preference, but the tradeoff for older CPU's are a no go for me. I'm currently on Windows 10, not too many complaints there. Some boards have legacy support for older operating systems, however from my knowledge, that is strictly to work with benchmarking and overclocking purposes. It most likely will not have full operating support/driver support.

I'm at a loss here as the board specs    states that it supports Win 7 OS and also Intel i9 9900 coffee lake cpu's.

Can anyone clarify this ?     Please... This Asus Z390 RGB circus has to go :)

The last ASUS board I had on Windows 7 was the P8P67 series that had the recall and I still see stack of them at side walk sales.
I got 2 and they are still working even the SATA port that could have the problem.
( I have Windows 7 for media center with cable cards)

Windows 10 with SSD have been great  if you disable a few items.

I have older EVGA board that did Windows 7 but they are  hard to find

question is, will the asus z390 have a usb port that works while in windows 7.  if not, use a usb pcie card.   You may not like the board, but maybe it's a shot.

the EVGA dark z390 has an asmedia usb port that will allow usb function including wireless keyboard.  For which you can get a USB hub and pretty much have full capability.   there are ways to install windows 7 with all NVME support through alternative means.       if you have a spare hard drive, experiment with what you have.

    give this a look

    NO, but then again....

So there is no "official" support for any Z2xx & newer systems to run Windows 7.   HOWEVER, Intel drivers have Windows 7 support.

What this means to you is, as long as you have a motherboard that uses vanilla drivers instead of custom coded drivers, then you can install and run Windows 7 as I am doing on my Z370 / I7-8700 combo.

You will actually have to use some Microsoft drivers (yes, Microsoft has working Windows 7 drivers for this hardware, yet say the hardware is unable to support Windows 7....), and some Intel drivers, and a 3rd party app to disable the Microsoft pop-up prompt that tells you to upgrade to Windows 10.

This PC makes #20 that I've built from scratch for myself, and it works better than any other PC I've ever built!!!

There is an excellent guide on youtube by careyholzman for installing Win7 on Z2xx / Z3xx systems.  Just search for install windows 7 on z370

Try the guide of WinXP on Z390 DARK.
It should work for Win7 and some of them can be done easier.

Dont use Windows 7. Whatever reason you think you need it for is probably wrong.
