in the end of it, there are people who genuinely fold for the cause and not care about the bill (then again some dont even pay their bills as parents do it anyway :p )
but there are also some who just does it because theres an incentive (EVGA Bucks).

to those people who does it only for the EVGA Bucks and also Pays the bills... theyre better of not folding, give them selves that 10 USD/EUR per month if not even more... and your be profiting...

unless you are alreayd rocking RTX lineup.. then u shouldnt have much issue

I agree to a point but everyone’s situation changes, maybe it’s all they can do just to try and get a card after two years of saving. Some guys weigh out how much energy they can afford each month. No matter the reason that individuals computer may just find a cure. Most don’t get into for the bucks, they want to help find a cure.

Folding whatever I can :o)

I'll add two things

1) Fold because its in Your Heart - for the Greater Good

2) I'm not saying everyone can afford the Newest or Fastest Card -But - the Newer Cards have much higher PPD & much lower electric demand

anything older than 900 series your holding yourself back & burning many extra Watts ...

The jump in points for this year is a real buzzkill for those of us with older rigs. Running full tilt, my Phenom II / 1050Ti rig just managed to clear the old 4 million points/month threshold. If I'm running other video tasks on it, then that total would droop a bit. This new points level is unattainable. While I'm not in it just for the EVGA credit, it does weigh into the equation (in addition to power not being cheap in California, and to the wear & tear on this system that really needs to keep living).

I'll keep folding during the times when the system needs to be powered on anyway, but the incentive to fold nights & weekends has essentially dried up. Understandable, I guess, but the odd juxtaposition between those that can afford the latest and greatest vs those that paid dearly for older gear, and then who can benefit from the ability to reach the required levels vs who can't ... just seems kind of backwards. That's how things tend to go, but it doesn't make the feeling of seeing things just out of reach any less unfortunate. C'est la vie.

As I'm fighting cancer right now (aggressive B-Cell Lymphoma). I fold for the cancer research. It was nice to get the 5 EVGA bucks as I was hoping it would help off set the cost of a better card to put in a spare computer I'm building from parts to run folding 24/7. My computer has a 1070 but I use it for video's and games while I'm fighting this cancer so it's only a few hours a day I can run the Folding program. I was barely able to hit the 4m a month. I'll keep folding as I hope we find a cure one day.

Now that were getting the later feedback. It seems to affect many of our folders. I'm hoping to see a reduction on the top tier. TheBreasal, I wish you the best in your battle with cancer, God it sucks! I have a Brother-in-law that has been in the battle for over a year, and his wife my sister has recently been going through treatment for breast cancer. I have had many in my family that have been through it. I also hope we find a cure for cancer and many other terrible diseases.

I'm just a lurker and long time folder stopping in to say hi...
While the new monthly requirements are a small jump, I don't think they are unreasonable. With all my hardware folding for EVGA it takes less than half a day to get the 4 million points. 21 million points would take me a few days at full steam, and I think that is a fair trade off for the $10 EVGA bucks.

I feel that if the base is 7 m then the top should be 14, no more than 15. I will always fold for personal reasons but it does help to have a little back when the price of Ti Cards has essentially doubled and that is a problem. Let's not forget the cost of power is also rising in some areas.

It took me 20 days running a 1070 Ti and 1060 6GB around the clock to break 21 million.

I think the top end should be based on the total point generated by whatever the current xx70 card is capable running 8 hours a day, every day.  That's pretty reasonable for those that use their GPU's for their own personal use without interrupting availability.

That would be around 11.5 million/month with current hardware.  So maybe 6 mil for tier I and 12 mil for tier II would be a reasonable compromise.

6M/12M seems more obtainable. At this point I'm only going to go for 7M since I don't have the resources to go all the way to 21M. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Everyone giving their input like EVGA is going to change it. I agree, top tier should be 14, not 21. It's always been double. This triple is unattainable with my 980Ti. I didn't expect that.

It should have been 14 Last Year so as stated in first Post;
One other important measure to note for Year 12 is that the point totals are not set in stone.  This time, we're going to monitor the point totals to see how easy/hard it is to achieve these point totals for the community, and adjust if necessary.

With the BETA WUs everyone that give a crazy PPD most likely will not last for ever.
So I hope it does not make it look too easy to make the goals.
I do not know if and when the BETA tasks go mainstream if the points will stay high because of the amount of work they produce.
More work more points is how it works.

New cores are good, but it takes time for old cores to be retired. I found the core 22 to be stable at non OC settings. But we certainly don't when it would move off beta and advanced. The regular folder won't be seeing those for the most part.

It is slow going with anything less than a 900 series card & 10 series have the advantage of even more power & using less Watts at the same time.

CPU Folding can earn PPD - but the Watts consumed & low PPD earned have removed the incentive

Your 2070 could get about 800K - 1 Million PPD
