Hello!
To put it bluntly, I screwed up. I've been having issues with my GPU (black screen, GPU fans taking off) for awhile and decided to check if I had to reapply thermal paste on my 1080 classified, even though my temperatures seemed reasonable, after reading this thread. Of course.... I mess up and I accidentally pull to hard on the fan connector and rip the brown one right off as illustrated in the picture.

Did I just screw up big time in the sense that I am likely buying a new one or can this be fixed in a repair shop? Thanks in advance!

Even if you're able to repair it your warranty will still be void most likely as evga will most definitely see it's been repaired.

The card is close to 3 years old already I believe. I was just hoping I could wait with upgrading until the new series release. So my question remains, can this be repaired or am I buying a new 2080?

Very repairable. With the correct replacement terminal and crimper tool, EVGA may not have ever noticed. Without the correct replacement terminal and crimper, you can rig a solution together using the old terminal, but it will be more noticeable.
Someone in the repair industry will undoubtedly have a terminal reference book to order the correct terminal and crimper tool (if they don't already have it on hand).

Maybe just get a new fan? Cal EVGA support and see if they can send a new fan, or if you can buy a new fan?
Be honest and up front and tell them the temps may of been warm and you wanted to try to reapply the TIM and the fan connector broke.

Maybe a good time to get a Hybrid cooler or after market AIO cooler with a bracket.

Figured I would give an update! Managed to get it fixed, but it unfortunately didn't resolve the no signal with fans ramping up issue. Might try to RMA, but bought a new card in the mean time so regardless of the outcome I'll be fine. If anyone stumbles upon this thread with similar 'No signal, fans ramping up' crashing issues, RMA the card instantly! I literally tried everything: New thermal pads, New PSU, new RAM, different PCI-E slot, Registry modifications (TDR, pagefile increase, etc), format, you name it and I've probably tried it. Its weird that I didn't experience it before it started happening with the game Islands of Nyne and now it does it in Apex. It never occurred in any other game besides those. Haven't experienced it with a new 2080 so I guess the card was the culprit.
