So far, that banhammer has crushed 355,000 cheaters. Respawn is taking things a bit further and is now reportedly issuing permanent hardware bans against PC gamers who are caught cheating. Word of the permanent bans first surfaced on Reddit with alleged screenshots from cheating forums where players were complaining about being unable to rejoin the game after being hit with an account ban.

Good riddance. I can't stand folks that feel the need to cheat.

Context, context, context... All those banned people will buy again. It's not a method to clean up gaming, but a method to earn more revenue.

Per the report: hardware ban. They will need to buy a new piece of hardware (often a new motherboard, or a new hard drive, or both [because for the cheater, it is only a matter of guessing which specific hardware ID was banned, and the enforcer purposely doesn't publish which hardware they choose to ban]). How many will buy a new motherboard, a new hard drive, and a new copy of the game, just to continue trolling with cheats? Your statement is silly. [sarcasm]I am sure that the game publisher corroborated with hardware manufacturers to increase sales of both their game and hardware.[/sarcasm] lol Choosing to utilize a hardware ban indicates that they are serious about reducing the number of cheaters in their game, and indicates that it is not just some ploy to increase the number of copies sold.

Glad you think my statement is stupid. If you're devious enough to get banned, you're devious enough to do hardware virtualization.

Yes, that is obviously the publisher's intent: force script kiddies to become better at being anonymous. No. Choosing to utilize hardware bans indicates that they actually care about cheating.

They don't "care" about cheating, they care about revenue generation.
