I'm wondering what are some good options that are under $500.
My current set up is this:
TV: 55" Samsung QLED TV:
https://smile.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-QN55Q7F-55-Inch-Ultra/dp/B01NAYM6JQ/Polk Audio FR1 soundbar with subwoofer:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Polk-Audio-FR1-Powered-Soundbar-With-Wireless-Subwoofer/186457258 the sound bar was a hand-me-down from my dad, so some parts might be missing.
The sound quality seems to be unbalanced at times, hard to really describe well
One thing I'm looking for is something that my Samsung smart remote can work with (despite it being a "smart" soundbar, I wasn't able to connect it that way, and the app that I believe could be used to control it wasn't something that I could find, so may not be out there anymore (in fact finding a good listing for it at all was hard)
as far as bass goes, I don't think I need a huge subwoofer, I prefer my bass more moderate. though my experience with 2.0 set ups have been mostly with cheap ones that next to no bass at all. So I guess I'm going with moderate bass, and balance mids and highs.
a way to adjust the balance would be nice too, as I have a hearing loss in the higher frequencies, to so being able to turn those up (or speakers that naturally lean more toward the highs) would be nice, as is anything that has a setting to enhance voice/dialogue options.
I also don't need massive volume either
A break down
want:
good highs mids, and lows
work well with my TV ( the Samsung smart remote, and a optical audio or HDMI Passthrough/ARC)
Adjustable settings (equaliser, voice/dialogue enhancement options)
less than $500
Don't need:
Huge bass
really high volume
Don't want: rear/satilite speakers
I'm still looking around, but Samsung bars might have good compatablity, but don't know about the sound quality for the premium bars, or how dependent they are on subwoofers to even have a basic level of bass in them.
