New Updates for Z390 Motherboards today: BIOS 1.04 (E399 Dark) / 1.05 (E397 FTW)- Add OC Profile (Luumi and K|NGP|N)*
- Improves CPU and memory OC compatibility
- Adds supports OC for Intel KF series
- Adds supports Intel H10 Optane memory*
- Adds supports for debug port orientation*
- Fixes various other minor bugs and fixes
*Z390 DARK (E399) only
Windows Installation - Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
131-CS-E399-KR - EVGA Z390 Dark - v1.04 123-CS-E397-KR - EVGA Z390 FTW - v1.05- First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
- Close all open programs.
- Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
- Press Y to start the flash process
- DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
- After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
- NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.
BIOS Installation- Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
- Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
- From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
- Select the .bin file you wish to flash.
Please let me know if anyone runs into problems with this update. Thanks!

when you say, debug orientation, do you mean for motherboards mounted upside down, like mine, it will flip the LED? been a while since I flashed a bios, z77 to be honest. Will flashing keep the settings I've put in? Or do I need to flash a different bios slot?

No, you load bios defaults prior to flashing so unless you have them saved to a profile slot you will lose your settings and need to manually put them back in. At least I 'think" saving to a profile slot and then reloading it after the flash should work, maybe someone can clarify if not? I took a look at the bios notes, not sure I am going to flash. My board is running so dang good I almost hate to risk it. Might get adventurous though will see.

yeah, I loaded the new bios on bios 2 slot and had to put everything back in. In fact, it would not accept my profile loaded to USB. Wonder why. Bios slot two wouldn't accept the USB saved profile on factory original bios in slot 2 either. Am I to confirm when you save to USB, you can only load to that one Bios you saved it from and not transfer to others. At any rate. I loaded the new bios and put in the settings manually. So far so good. I did notice that by reversing the LED for my upside down motherboard configuration that it did indeed put the numbers right side up. But it shifted over to the second LED under the RAM which kind obscures seeing the numbers when your motherboard is mounted upside down. Had rather it just flip the main LED instead of flipping and shifting to the other. I agree don't mess with it if it isn't broke but I wanted that LED reverse feature.

You cannot use a saved profile across different bios versions. Your saved profile will only work for the bios version it was saved under. Reason being, sometimes, between bios versions, things change such as field additions and removals. This has been the behavior of every motherboard I have owned. The screen shot tool is very helpful for this. I printed out my bios pages this morning to ensure I got my settings right.

Ok, I got impatient and had already flashed in Windows. Everything so far seems to have gone fine. Will be sure and use USB next time to be safe though. Definitely all saved slots disappear with the bios flash. When the system shut down to restart after the flash, it would start and stop a few times which was a little concerning, but finally it started and booted fine. Have gone in and entered all my settings , going to stress the system now to make sure still stable at settings I had previously.

That is the learning process for the board. It happens anytime you make a change to RAM. Just let it do it's thing and restart a few times. kingpin explains: https://forums.evga.com/E...clocking-m2913749.aspx

I flipped to bios 2 and installed the new one. Seems to be stable at the same settings. I did notice two new fields "VCore PWM Frequency" and "VCore Guardband". I am not sure what these two fields are used for. Any insight?

Seems like a solid update, need to test my OC though, deffo improvement in memory, nothing would make my mem kit post above 3866 before XMP was a no go, now XMP works, only downside now is I will have to re go through all the mem OC'ing again will be interesting how far this kit can be pushed! Am using CMK32GX4M2F4000C19 for anyone interested in a 32gb kit.

I updated the #1 bios for the dark to 1.04 in the bios in the "extras" section. Seemed to brick it. After the update finished the system restarted, turned off, then back on for a second and back off again and then nothing. I was told to boot into windows with #2 bios flip the switch back to #1 and run the .bat file in the update to "refresh" #1 bios. Didn't fix it. Starting with #1 system comes on for a sec then back to forever off. I have a ticket in with support, anyone else run into this problem? Any thoughts?

Use the USB that came with the motherboard and try the procedure on Page 129 of the manual. https://www.evga.com/supp.../files/131-CS-E399.pdf

hemimazda I updated the #1 bios for the dark to 1.04 in the bios in the "extras" section.
When you did the bios flash, was the USB stick plugged into the back of the board or in an USB hub? And as TahoeDust posted above, grab the USB that shipped with your board and follow those instructions

Really nice job EVGA team. Memory no longer takes much time at all to configure. I am running G.Skill 4000cl17. With very little effort I can now run 4500 17-17-17. I set VSA to 1.425v, VVCIO to 1.355v, and DIMM at 1.455v. I then loaded XMP profile and restarted. Next I loaded 4400 and then 4500. Then lowered VSA, VVCIO, and DIMM to 1.360, 1.310, and 1.450 respectively. I am easily able to drop tRFC from 700 to 300 clocks. Before the update it was like playing roulette or something looking at the board as the numbers go round and round and round, hoping for it to catch. Memory scores are awesome. Thanks. edit: posts much quicker and EVGA screen comes up very fast, now edit: Physics and Prime number scores remain low. Any help would really be appreciated.
