The task size varies so much it is hard to compare. These are big tasks, I would go with 8 cores per task on the 2P 2680, or can try 8 cores 4 tasks with HT on. I have a couple 6/12 CPUs running 12 threads with HT on, doing one task and they are loaded right up. 9500 - 13,000 seconds on i7-5930k/E5-1650V3, i5- 8600k or i7-8086k 2hr 36m - 3hr 36m roughly per task

Clearly my best cpu for this is an Ivy 3570k 4 core @ 4Ghz. running Linux. 8.5 hours. 2500k is about the same as devlin,s 2x 2600k about 10+ hours running 8 threads. Most disappointing is a 4790k taking 13 hours 4 or 8 thread, doesn't matter. I switched it back to 4 thread so I can use the GPU if necessary. Also running on a Dell that was given to me with an i-5 6500 4 core, 16-17 hours.

I've jumped on this. Thanks for posting run times, my 2600k was expected to take 24h while devlin's and yodap's are around 10h-11h. Turns out it was only using 1 core/thread. Had to update the avg_ncpus in app_config.xml from 1 to 4 and now I'm good (I hope).

I bet the 55 aborted were mine! Darn BOINC wants to send way too many tasks, so I send them back Aborting tasks does not matter, the first person to get the task first most of the time turns it in first. Some of those tasks I bet are the sister task to ones we got, so that makes it a better chance we will be first. Remember tasks are not sent out at the same time from the distribution server. First one received more often first one in.

In the last ten years there were ten GCW primes found. More people were killed by lightning, a shark, hippo, crocodiles and elephants or hit the lotto, than found a GCW prime.

Remember to change your setting "Use at most [ 1 ] % of the CPUs” before you download to insure you only receive 1 task. If you don’t, it will send as many as the number of cores you have.

Oh and I did switch my e5-2680's over to 8 cores per task. doing em in 7-8 hours now. 4 cores was doing 24 hours. Looks like it can fully utilize these better than the ppse or pps mega tasks.
