          A battery pack that is 3500mAh (12v) vs. 6000mAh (12v) other than the difference in number?

    The amount of time it will last before it runs out of battery power.  The larger pack will last much longer than the smaller pack unless something is wrong with the pack itself.

    Just make sure you are buying a reputable brand.  Some non-reputable brands like to carry out some fairly shady practices, like sticking AA batteries wired in series to provide power.  A reputable brand should be using much better and longer lasting materials.

    mAh ---> milliampere hour

    milliampere hour = 1 thousandth of an ampere hour

    basically means the device has - as the number gets larger:
         A) larger Cells
         B) More Cells

    Capacity is different

    The keyword was "basically". For consumers, it's sufficient enough to say the higher the number the more capacity it will contain.
