Hello all,

I am building a new system but unfortunately I am having an error when booting.
The configuration :
MB : Evga Z390 FTW
CPU : i5 9600 K
GPU : RTX 2060
PSU : Bequiet 750W
Ram : gskill ripjaws 2x4

So, after connecting everything, I boot the system and I got a 7F error with nothing on my screen. From my research 7F means it is hardware, so I thought it was the GPU, which I tested and it works so the error comes from something else.

Where does the error comes from then ?

I have connected the MB to the PSU with the 2 cables.

I spent my day trying many things and cannot solve it so any help is appreciated

Have you powered down the motherboard and held the red clear cmos button to make sure the board is at default?
Perhaps try switching the bios - if the FTW has a dual bios switch

Only other thing to do is look at the CPU socket and make sure there are no bent socket pins - may require a magnifier

About the CMOS, yes I held the button. I also took off the CMOS battery out for 30 min and inserted it back.

For the CPU socket, I checked before installing the CPU and it seemed ok, will check again. In the case it is the CPU socket, would I have anything on my screen or would the result be the same ? Because I have read that error 7F asks for user input but since I don't see anything on the screen I cannot do anything.

    Thanks for your inputs

Remove the RTX 2060 Graphics Card and use only the On Board Graphics.
Configure and setup the OS Completely to include all updates then Install your RTX 2060 Graphics Card.

    Associate Code: 9E88QK5L7811G3H

I had same error after killing my CPU, so I would recommend you find a different CPU to test with.

    Hi,

I found the solution to my problem : I had to update the BIOS to a newer version. It is weird to buy a Z390 that is not updated for the newer generation of CPU but apparently it was my problem.

It's not like they build the boards in house here in the USA. A lot can happen between the time the boards are built, shipped and delivered. How many bios versions have there been since your board was built - shipped and in your hands? I suspect quite a few

Yeah, but I do find it problematic to need to update because your CPU isn't recognized, but you can't because you don't have a CPU that is...heh..I don't find it a good solution to wait for a new chip or board to be shipped...

Yes I agree. I understand that you may not get the latest bios version, but I am disapointed that the motherboard cannot support the cpu it is made for without a bios update.
