Sorry for the stupid question but could someone please clear something up for me.

I've created a bootable usb in order to do a clean install of windows 10 but under my boot options I have 2 uefi partition.

I just wanted to confirm that I should select the first uefi partition?

Use Rufus to create a bootable USB Windows 10 installation drive, it works both in legacy and UEFI mode.

I just ended up using the Windows media creation tool despite when trying to use it previously it would progress so far but then fail with some seemingly generic error message.

Prior to that I was trying to follow this guide on Windows Centeral (The part using Rufus) which is what somehow resulted in me having 2 UEFI partitions.

What's the capacity of your USB drive?
It is possible that Rufus cannot create such a large partition so it is divided into two.

I use the last update of the older Rufus with the previous interface. It's more intuitive than the new version. Load the ISO, start the copy and done. WMCT although it worked for you is much slower to create a USB stick.
