I'm looking the FTW-k to replace another brand's x299 mobo. I see the FTW-k is listed as a EATX, and the Fractal Design Define R5 midtower doesn't specifically support that size. However, it looks like it might fit, if a bit tight.
Other than spec sheets, which I've read, has anyone actually installed this board into this case?
Sometimes what's on paper and what actually fits are two different things.

 You might not be able to use the 6-Pin PCIe Connector on the Bottom left of the Motherboard. I would say No to your Current Case. You also look a little short on the Right Side of the MB as well. Compare the Blue and Yellow Below.  - ATX, Micro ATX, Mini ITX motherboard compatibility
- 7 expansion slots
You may run into this (A Very Tight Fit) 8 expansion slots Your is only 7 so even smaller.

  Measurements Taken form my EVGA X299 FTW-K Motherboard. Same Size and Same Size Motherboards, I have Both. Both are Form Factor – E-ATX I would bet to say that you are not going to be able to connect to your USB 3.0 Header on the Right Side. U.2 Connectors as well and maybe even the SATA Connectors. Keep us Posted on how well it works out for you.

Thanks, it looks possible, but not assured. It's right on the edge of possible, or not possible.
I think the lower corner PCIE power might work out ok and on many boards are optional anyway.

Not yet. I need to pull the machine apart and take some measurements and it is running a job that will take a couple more days. I think you're right on the USB-3 front panel connector. The lower corner should be fine, the tough part is the front edge. The board will likely have enough clearance, but the connectors plugged into may not.

The R5 is a TIGHT fit at best for ANY EATX MB. An R6 fits them BUT all the grommets are covered up and while an R6 technically holds an EATX MB you need to route a lot differently...

After careful measurement, it would be a no-go in the R5 case. The edge of the board would just touch the metal at 1.5" from the screw in the picture above. It might bolt down, but there is no room for connectors.

I was hoping for a fit. Not happy with this MSI x299 board. Will have to stick to an ATX board or change the case.
