I noticed when I installed that direct die mount that if you tighten the 3 screws too much it will raise the CPU socket! So those 4 corners of the CPU socket you mentioned to trim off would be higher then the CPU die if one tightens that direct die mount.
I loosened the 3 screws a hair or 2 and then used a plastic razor and verified the CPU die cleared those corners of the CPU socket.
This is on a Asus z390 Extreme XI.
No idea if the block is tightened so much it will make those 4 corners of the cpu socket rise above the die.. that's a question though.
Seems ok so far. 5.2ghz at 1.36v LLC 7 and 1.34v on load. Temps low to mid 70s in realbench 15 min stress test.
Cant get 5 3v but really only was brave enough to try 1.38v. :/ prob need 1.4v so it will be around 1.37v load.
4266mhz was an issue.. but raising the dram voltage to 1.4 to 1.41 volts seems to cure that problem with my 4x 8gb g.skill trident Z 4266mhz rgb ram.
Was losing my mind cause I was using like 1.35v vccio volts and it wasn't making a difference. Bsod at 3.15v.
