I apologize for the confusion but I'm 99.9% certain we simply did not update the QVL for the X299 Micro 2 (slight oversight on our part). Test the CPU and let us know if you have any issues. 

Did you test the Asrock x299 with the same memory and PSU you had connected to the EVGA X299 Micro 2? 
 
I'm thinking you may need a BIOS update but can you list your hardware specs?
 
 

This may sound like a stretch but can you test  a different PSU on the X299 Micro 2?
Not a common issue but I have seen PSU and motherboard compatibility problems. If you get a chance, check the CPU socket for any damage.
 

Can you notify the RMA team about this? I'm assuming they are expecting the return of the original board while I have to do this?

I have received a 7820x, I shall install it shortly.

Ok,
Tested 7740x with bios V1.09 and it's a FAIL.
The x299 Micro 2 does not support the 7740x CPU at all.
 
I'll have to decide on keeping the 7820x and sorting the RMA.
or I can keep the Asrock X299m which supports all processors.
 
What an ordeal, but at least something has been proven at the end of it. 
Feel free to sort me out, with one of those sweet Torq mice for the trouble if you want  
 
 
 

Sockets are brand new and free from defect.  Both motherboards were boxed sealed in plastic new.
I have received 2* brand new EVGA X299 micro 2 motherboards ( one being an advanced RMA from you guys). Both exhibit error 'C' with a 7740x and boots fine with 7820x. The Asrock X299m works fine with 7740x and 7820x.
 
Your compatibility list on your website, also doesn't list the 7740x as compatible with the EVGA Micro 2, even though all your other x299 motherboards show it as compatible. So I guess you guys acknowledge this too?
 
Regardless, every other X299 motherboard on the market, supports the 7740x. Including the X299m from Asrock which I also have.
 
It's very clear at this point, the X299 Micro 2, does not support the 7740x.

Im having some issues with the same motherboard and a 9820X.
 
My spec is as follows:
EVGA X299 Micro 2
Intel 9820X
G.Skill F4-3200C16Q-32GTZR Trident Z RGB 32GB (4x8GB)
SeaSonic Focus 1000W Gold Modular Power Supply (SSR-1000FX)
 
Ive tried the usual, re done all my power cables and still a C Post Code. Could it be a BIOS issue? Is there a way to update the BIOS to the latest BIOS in situ with everything hooked up????

 
You need Bios 1.07 or above. The current latest bios version is 1.09.
 
This is a longshot, but think it should work:
Use the USB inside the box, open the contents on a laptop or another computer. Observe the .bin file on the USB ( something like EVGAE296.bin ). That's the bios file.
Download the latest bios file, rename it to match the one on your USB drive and copy it over to your USB to replace the one on there already.
 
Now just follow the instructions to flash the bios using the USB key without a processor. Which is essentially, insert it into the top USB ports on the rear IO, and hold down the RESET button on the motherboard itself. It should count down on the debug LED from 4-0 and start flashing, let go once it finishes the countdown of course and let it do it's thing.
 
(note: if it comes back with 'F' on the LED indicator, make sure the USB is not inserted the wrong way, it can be inserted the wrong way because its not a typical USB connector of course )
