I just ordered an EVGA X299 Dark (and a lot of other parts for a build). I am planning to get either a i7 9800X (if I can find one in Stock), or a 9900X-9920X instead. My question is, has anyone gotten a Skylake-X refresh with the Dark and had it work out of the box, or should I expect issues where a bios update is needed?

I was made aware by an eVGA rep already that IF the CPU I choose will not boot with the included bios I can contact eVGA support and they will mail me an updated bios chip if I cannot get it to flash to an updated bios with the newer gen chip installed. Just wondering if anyone has done a newer gen build and had a no-boot issue with the bios their board came with?

Trust EVGA on their advice. Hopefully the motherboard will come with the latest BIOs and if so then you'll have no worries. Otherwise as EVGA told you they will send you a flashed BIOs chip.

I am running i7-9800X with a EVGA Dark mobo. It worked straight out the box with old bios 1.04 so I was able to boot up and install my OS no problem. If u want to overclock though, make sure you flash the bios to version 1.14 (latest) before attempting it. Might wanna replace the CMOS battery though. Many of us had CMOS batteries that were dead on arrival with the Dark. They cost like 3 bucks to replace. Just take off the m.2 shrouds and unscrew the rest of the shroud plate from the back of the mobo to get it off the then u should be able to get at the battery underneath the shroud.

Hello, I have x299 Dark & i7 9800X. Everything is working fine, battery was replaced too :D I try ELeetX 1.05 + Bios 1.14 and noticed several features:
    1. After setting VCore (overrride) voltages in the bios, in Windows, next values does not change with Elite X, although the sliders move and the button "Apply" is pressed, in fact the VCore voltage does not change.
    2. If you uncheck the "Turbo mode" checkbox in Elite X and then re-enable it, then this function does not work.
Tell me how do these parameters work for you?

Thanks to a shipping error (not eVGA's fault, stupid post office), I never received mine, it's on it's way back to eVGA & because I paid through Paypal, they won't ship it to another address, so I'll be getting a refund. Because the 9800X was out of stock for over 2 weeks, at least at MSRP ($599), I ended up going a completely different route & got a 9900K with a Z390 motherboard from Amazon.  I'm very happy with the performance so far though, I'm seeing 50-60% increase in performance over my old system on single-thread applications & tests, and up to twice the performance on multi-threaded tests (Cinebench for example, I'm now score ~2048 stock, the i7 3930k I'm coming from barely managed 1048 points @ 4.2GHz).
