bcavnaughYou do not need to use with the X299 Dark Motherboard as it has one Built in.It is only needed if you remove the Metal One that is Built into the Motherboard.
LouKurThe two I/O shields that comes with the EVGA X299 Dark did not work when I installed it in a Lian Li PC-O11 Air case. The thickness of the two I/O shields was too great. For example, I tried connecting an USB 3.1, Gen 2 Type C connector through the two I/O shields. The connector would not seat all the way. When I remove the outer I/O shield from the case, the USB Type C connector seats all the way. For clarity of understanding, there are two I/O shields. There is one that comes attached to the EVGA X299 Dark motherboard. I have this one installed. There is a second I/O shield that comes in a mylar bag in the box that the motherboard ships in. It is this second I/O shield that I could not get to work. I don't know if the Lian Li case is causing the problem or if it is merely the combined thickness of the two I/O shields.
PINKTULIPjust remove the padding.
bcavnaughPINKTULIPjust remove the padding. That is what you did, I remember you postIf you take the Metal Back Plate Off that is Mounted to the Motherboard you can then use the other I/O Shield that comes with the Motherboard without removing the Padding (Shielding)I have it both ways to see the difference and with the I/O Shield I did not have to remove the Padding on the two that I installed in the Case. Also because that back plate looks and is marked like the other I/O Shield I really just forgot to add in on the third one but looks ok and works ok.
