Hey y 'all, I have had my card since Oct/Nov and never noticed this before but, my monitors (2) aren't going into sleep properly.

I have 1 ultrawide screen for my main monitor (hooked up display port) and a 1080p side monitor (hooked up HDMI) and I have never had this issue before the 2080.

The monitors WILL go to sleep after I boot and as it sits in the lock screen and if I just log into windows but don't run anything, but after I log into windows and IF I run ANY 3d app or have any window open (like TeamSpeak Outlook 2013 or whatever) even if they are minimized the monitors will not go into standby.

My 980 didn't do this and I tried a 1080 and it doesn't do it either.

Any ideas?

thanks

I have the latest driver with Vsycn/Freesync disabled.
Windows 10 64bit, installed May 2018

#1 Remove the nvidia hd audio drivers if you have them installed.
    #2 Reboot pc.
    #3 Retest for the issue.

I don't have the Nvidia audio drivers installed as far as I know, I never select them, BUT I see my LG Ultrawide HD Audio listed in the MS Playback sounds list?? I have it disabled though as I am using my Creative Zx.

I wonder if MS is installing them?

I don't see them listed in the Programs menu:

How do I get rid of these drivers and keep them from coming back?

    thanks for any help.

I have these in my Device Manager, not sure why as I never installed them, but do I remove both the virtual and HD?

    thanks

I'd uninstall both. To keep them from coming back you'd have to disable wndows updates via the group policy manager.

Ok I uninstalled them both, on a reboot one came back as "HD Audio Driver" which I assume is a MS driver, so I disabled it.

Monitor still will not go to sleep, but only after I boot into Windows and open any app.

Still sleeps in lock screen, and on desktop IF I don't run anything.

It's got to be something else, some other app maybe?

I FINALLY found it!! It was the GFE "In-game Overlay", It was turned on.

I turned it off and BAM! Sleep is working again. What a strange bug.
