The ucode Broadwell-E "update"  from MS is 0xB00002C. For Broadwell-E the ucode being used to update the BIOS is the latest 0xB00002E from intel.  I'm using the latest patches and  mcu update from MS and no issues with overclocking or anything else.

Update CPU Microcode to resolve Broadwell-E CPU OC failures with Win10 RS5(1809) update.
 
Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:        
         151-HE-E999-KR - EVGA X99 Classified - v2.07
         150-HE-E097-KR - EVGA X99 FTW-K - v2.06
         150-HE-E997-KR - EVGA X99 FTW - v2.06
         131-HE-E995-KR - EVGA X99 Micro - v2.06
         131-HE-E095-KR - EVGA X99 Micro2 - v2.06
  • First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
  • Press Y to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
  • NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be run from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.
  
BIOS Installation
  • Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
  • Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
  • From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
  • Select the .bin file you wish to flash.
 
 
 Let me know if anyone has issues with these BIOS versions.

From the full release notes, it seems the microcode was updated for both Haswell-E and Broadwell-E.  However, other than updating to the latest microcode, I'm not aware that there were any outstanding issues that needed an update for Haswell-E processors.
 
The BIOS is mainly to help those who have issues brought up in this thread with Windows 10, but there are no adverse effects with other versions of Windows.  In other words, it's not an "only update if you have this issue" sort of BIOS.

BIOS 2.07 fixed the KB4090007 problem (Windows 10 1709 CPU microcode update) of not allowing my 6950X to run at my overclocked settings with my X99 Classified. I trust the same will hold true when M$ forces 1803/1809 down my throat.

Installed 2.06 on my FTW-K, back to 4.5 stable.

Thanks for all the work LeeM and others at EVGA. And if I may, could this be added to the existing sticky as an update? As this is now an official BIOS, it should be publicized a bit better and, it's free publicity and goodwill support.   Also, according to the mcode update schedule from intel, this should be the last update for Broadwell-E. We're ahead of the current mcupdate MS is using. So hopefully, were good.

Fortunately the fix from EVGA is fairly painless....but yeah, they must also know they are screwing up systems it has been widely reported.
I've confirmed the previous fix of renaming or deleting mcupdate_GenuineIntel,dll restores overclocking.

Update: Build 18317.1000 fast ring, reverts the ucode version back to B00002E.  Overclocking works on a standard OS install. This will be a moving target apparently.

Also an update to the method to get around this.  Previously, you could take ownership and replace the mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll with an older version or simply delete the file. Now if you replace the file with an older version, it will put you into a repair boot cycle you cannot get out of until you boot into a command prompt and delete that file.
To reiterate, the only method currently that works is to rename or delete the file. Replacing,  no longer works. I sent EVGA Tech Lee a PM.

I Never change a MB's BIOS without reason




I just think having the latest Bios is always good. That's my 2cents. To each their own I guess.

As far as I know, the only thing that is changed in the BIOS is the microcode. If you're not having issues and you have the mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll file in your System32 folder, then you shouldn't be affected. It appears that only Broadwell-E is affected.
