Hey gang,
So as I am getting things sorted on my new build, one thing I have noticed in Device Manager:
Under disk drives, it lists my Samsung 960 Pro m2. Nvme, and my Samsung 860 Evo SATA SSD properly.
However, my Samsung 970 Pro m.2 Nvme, it does not - lists it as WDS100T2XOC-00L350.
Kinda strange, wonder why?

Also on another note, in viewing the Safely Remove Hardware icon in my systray, it lists the Samsung SSD 860 Evo as being an option to eject, which is kind of strange.

Everything shows good in Device Manager, and I did install the chipset drivers for the Z390 Dark from the included flash drive. (did not install any of the Raid stuff).

I'll double check what my Device Manager says for my 970 Pro when I get home. But my 850 Evo is doing the same thing, treating it like an ejectable USB thumb drive. I was confused on that as well.

A bios update can fix that.

Ok thanks just wanted to make sure you were talking on the Dark and I had not missed one.

Hopefully EVGA will get word on this and get it fixed then.

Have you guys installed the Samsung Magician software yet?

d.burnette install it and see what it lists for the drives - in reply to your post asking about the listing of your Samsung drive as an WD

I have an evo 970 and a western digital black.   They report correctly.  and I do have the samsung magician installed.  make sure you update the firmware on the devices.

Well Samsung Magician shows that drive as unsupported - it is not recognizing that it is a 970 Pro m.2 Nvme.
Strange, maybe a mb bios update in future might correct that...
Edit: To clarify, Magician also shows it as that WD drive that Windows Device Manager shows it as being, therefore unsupported.

Where did you purchase the 970?

I am thinking it was a return that someone swapped the label on.

Amazon direct. Came in a sealed Samsung box just like my 970 Evo m.2 Nvme drive did, and had the same type Samsung identification label on the drive itself.
Boy if that were the case, that would really suck... paid fair amount of money for that 970 Pro.
Hoping maybe Windows just has mis-identified this particular drive.

Checked in the bios for this Z390 Dark.
It too lists that m.2 Nvme drive as that WDS drive that Windows does.
Beginning to think I might have got snookered , not going to worry with it too much at this point it is what it is I guess. Will  see if any future bios updates changes that. Everything on it showed it was a 970 Pro.

I would also note the bios shows my audio as RealTech, when it obviously is Creative.
