It started recently, like a week or so ago, I'm using the mouse and suddenly the pointer stops. This is more noticeable while gaming on any FPS. Sometimes it stops for a second, sometimes less than a second. The problem is that it is intermittent, as in, it can go hours or a day without any problems, then it happens every couple of minutes. I've cleaned the sensor, the mouse mat multiple times, and no improvements. This gets worse on games like Quake(Playing Quake II when this happens has started to give me motion sickness for some odd reason, haha).

I've searched around, and it was suggested here that it could be a sensor problem, but since it is so intermittent, and can go a while before it manifests itself, I'm afraid of using the RMA. Is there anything else I can try to fix this, or a tool so I can pinpoint more accurately when the information sent from the mouse stops?

PS: On another note, more like a curiosity unrelated to the thread... Why is this mouse so sticky?! I've used alcohol, cleaned it profusely, and it is still sticky.

If you have an overclock take this down to default and retest.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

if the mouse has rubber or some other grippy material the alcohol could actually be messing with it and making it worse
As to your mouse lag, could it be related to vsync

Thanks, but it happens on the desktop too, albeit less noticeable. And I barely use vsync on any games. This only started recently, before a few weeks ago, nothing. I also noticed, when the mouse movement stops I can still send information through to the PC. Be it with a mouse click(shooting) or right click.

Also, no rubber, just hard plastic.

Does this issue occur over multiple usb ports? Is the firmware of your mouse current?

my mouse does that when my USB wireless adapter is to far away, So I relocated it.    try that.   Assuming it's wireless.

then it's either hardware failure....which could be the case. Possible memory configuration causing OS studdering.    Or resourced based causing game lag.  What's running in the background?  Virus software?   Kill all applications and game and see.   Try another mouse to see if it's that mouse or reproducible on another mouse.  That would tell you that the mouse is failing.

The EVGA mouse manager says this:
    Mouse FW Ver. : 1.26
    Mouse AP Ver. : 1.9.4
Clicking on the magnifier glass to check for updates, and it says those are the latest versions.

I will try that, I have the general stuff running browser, steam, antivirus, etc... This also happens when using windows normally, but like I said before, one doesn't notice it too much.

I'll get back to you guys as soon as I finish doing those tests.

    Thanks everyone for the replies!

Did some testing, and so far, no stops. But, unfortunately, I couldn't do any testing yesterday.

    I'll keep you guys updated.

Did you turn Off Sleep on Each USB Port?
    In Device Manager that is.

Yep, I do this to every USB port in my PC. Especially when dealing with simulators, can't have those joysticks turning off in the middle of a landing or dogfighting.

After a few days testing and gaming pretty hard on Arx Libertatis, the problem seems to be, indeed Panda Antivirus.
I will try now the game settings. If that doesn't work, I will have to get back to antivirus shopping again. Since Avast was eating my CPU for breakfast.

EDIT February 2nd 2019: Seems that leaving it at gaming mode solves the problem.
