Actually ps2 is for windows 7. Us OC guys use windows 7 and theres no usb driver support for current usb 3.0 in win7 to install it, so you need to either buy a usb pcie card (that has its drivers built in )or have a ps/2 connector because win7 does have the driver for that or doesnt need em. Win 10 has alot of bloat crap and rtc issues for OC This is for OC, again... when you bench you have multiple hard drives because OS tends to get corrupted on multiple oc failures, so getting the usb card out could get annoying.. Seriously tho how is it a negative? Its not like there arent other usb ports. Its only one.

1. Those who are capable of overclocking a system to the max (LN2, etc.) should be capable of slipstream a xHCI (USB 3.0) driver into a Windows 7 image ;-)
2. Ever heard of Windows 10 LTSC? It's Windows 10 without the bloat crap. Mine works like a dream.
3. If the PS/2 is stealing the space for a full fledged HDMI / DisplayPort connector on the I/O, that's... inconvenient.
4. Does a ultimate OC Board really need extra USB/SATA controllers, U.2 / Mini-DP connector and a Creative soundcard (I would guess, most users will use the windows generic HDA driver to save some resources while doing extreme oc).
My opinion: EVGA should build a deluxe ("Classified") with all extra controllers and no legacy ports plus a stream-lined OC board within the extra things but (maybe) useful thing for those extreme users. There are elements on the Z390 Dark (like the angled connectors, the ATX12 connectors facing to the right side), that I'd like to see an all boards.

Yeah thats another way to do it tho.
I mean i got a usb pcie card. Personally i just like plug n play. I could probably slipstream or whatever, but i havent needed to.
Nope never heard of it, i gave up on OS stuff years ago, ill have to look into it.
Does the ltsc solve the RTC issues tho?
Most guys used a cut down version of win 7 for tweaks last time i had a OC build. Tweaks are already figured out etc

Really hoping EVGA posts at least a basic OC Guide on the Z390 Dark as they have done with some of their boards in the past. Coming from X-79 Dark I am not so familiar with a lot of the new tech in these board platforms.
Mine is out for delivery later today, hope to begin the build now very soon.

I have some new Corsair 140mm Mag Levitation Fans to put in my new DG 87 case.
Spec shows each one will draw .259a.
Is it ok to use y cables and connect two fans to one header on the mb?

Up to 3 fans are OK, if you start getting into 4 fans+ you can buy splitters have a connector for the PSU, so you only send fan rpm and receive PWM signal from the fan header but the 12v draw is from the PSU

self powered (SATA) fan hubs are Very useful

All the hardware for the test bench PCB is provided - you just set the TB on your table / bench and place the Dark onto it - it holds it up in a safe manner. you can also pass your power cables ect. between the TB and your board
There is also a bunch of useful information printed on it

Yes, the Z390 Dark just sits on there without additional fasteners. When trying to shift the whole assembly, it's intuitive to lift the motherboard since one hand can grab the board or a heatsink easily. That's when the motherboard comes right off. It's mildly annoying to have to realign and reseat it. The threads at the top of the standoffs are metric -- M3 if I remember right. I got a pack of nuts at Home Depot (or was it Lowes?) that fit. Three or four of those nuts hold the assembly together while handling. That worked on the X299 Dark and I set up the Z390 Dark that way yesterday.

Is only meant to do some initial testing to insure you components worked - not a long term solution I say that even though I probably used mine for at least 4 months with my X299 Dark and 1080ti FTW3 on water before moving them to my case

I use an open table for benching. The bench PCB with its long standoffs is quite an improvement over shorter standoffs especially when a K|ngp|n inferno is installed on the back of the motherboard. The X299 Dark stayed there around six months. Neither the X299 Dark not Z390 Dark are destined for any time in a case.
I put GTX 1080 and GTX1080ti, both KPE, in the first PCIe slot. With air cooling or full cover waterblocks, they stood up fine. With a dry ice pot, they need foam pads between motherboard (or M2 cooler) and the bottom of the pot to keep them standing without stress on the socket that would scare me. On Z390, I have to put an NVMe SSD in the #2 slot away from the GPU.
