1070 FTW RGB Modding

Hey! First post and all. 
 
So I'm currently rebuilding my PC and got myself a thermaltake rgb controller which I'm using with aura sync.
I know that EVGAs RGB doesn't work with any other software so I'm thought that plugging the RGB header of my EVGA 1070 FTW into the controller. Does anyone have experience in that field and can tell me if it would work at all?

    I've just done it, same gpu, i recalled watching this post yesterday and just came back to tell you that, yes, you can, I used dupont cables since the header is smaller, and plugged them into the extension that came with my motherboard, it works, it glows, and, of course, it color matches
