I have a pair of each the 2080FE and the TitanRTX that just came in. They are physically the same card with different colors. The logo is white on the Titan and of course the gold color. Same NVLink except the titan version is also gold and white illumination.
The Titan has a different GPU part number and of course 24gig of VRAM. It runs both faster and cooler than the 2080ti. Titan TDP is factory set to 280w, vs 260w for the FE and 250w for all other 2980ti. I think this is the cream of the binning of Turing chips.
Head to head using same deep learning benchmarks, it is 7% faster than the 2080ti FE. However, the extra vram is meaningful for DL and HPC loads. Taking advantage of the extra vram allows larger batch sizes which allow for even greater performance or more complex workloads not practical with 11gb.
NVLink is the same as the 2080ti two way and improves HPC and DL workloads with p2p bandwidth.
Lot of dough for the step up. Next step up is the Quadro and Tesla. That’s a lot more dough. Happier with these than the TitanV cards.
Not sure if it is better to have two 2080ti or one TitanRTX. Or 4 vs 2.
