MB: Gigabyte AORUS Z370 Gaming 3
RAM: 16 GB Corsair RGB 3200
CPU: Intel i7 8700K
VC: EVGA 2080
PSU: 850W EVGA PSU
Samsung M2 SSD as my main drive
 Not being overclocked
 
I recently upgraded my GPU from an Asus 1070 to an EVGA 2080. When I replaced the GPU I did a complete driver uninstall using Display Driver Uninstaller so it would be completely clean install. While its a noticeable improvement over my Geforce 1070 in terms of performance, it has one issue: when the monitor shuts off after 10 minutes. it takes much much longer for the screen to return. Sometimes (about half of the time) it will not return and I simply have to reset the system. Very annoying. I checked the power settings and my screen is set to 10 minutes to turn off and my computer is set to NEVER for sleep like it was for my 1070. 
 
What is causing this and is there a fix?  My motherboard BIOS is up to date.

    What Monitor ?  any Firmware updates - check Mfg website
     
    What kind of cable connection ?

    Nvidia driver number ?
     
    Windows 10 - what is the Version & OS build number ?
     
    Set screen saver to black / blank & disable Monitor sleep function - what happens ?

    I just pull the Power Plug on my Monitors when this happens.
    After a few second I plug back in the Power Cables and they come right back on.
    This happens also if my monitor are on for a while and my computer is turn off then when I turn on my computers the Bios Beeps at me for having no display, but then after the OS Boots most of the time the screen returns. If not I have to Pull the Power Plugs.
    I think it all has to do with DP Cables and Ports in general.

    Cable connection is solid and all settings are the same as when using my Asus 1070.  2080 is the only change.  I have two monitors connected and both exhibit same issues.
     
    I do wonder if the issue is connected to upgrading WIndows 10 1809 
     
    I have read that the Samsung M2 driver can cause issues.

    My reference to Removing the Power Cables to the Monitors it to clear all power to them.
    Using the Power Button on your Monitors is not removing the Power to the Monitor that is held in them with the Power Button is off.
    So after installing the 2080 you then upgraded to 1809?
    I have never seem this posted "Samsung M2 driver can cause issues"

    Update: It appears to that this was a driver issue.  Nvidia has just released a hotfix that seems to resolve the issue.

    The issue has not come back.  Computer fully wakes up and comes back on line with ease.  No waiting.  I have no hesitation in saying that these drivers seem to have done the trick. 

    In addition to that, it also seems to have solved another issue I was having where I couldn't load Windows 10 after a cold boot.  
     
    So yeah, get the drivers with the hotfix.

    This is the last time I will update this thread. 
     
    I am now pleased to say that the issue is 100% gone.  Ever since I installed the new hotfix, the monitor and GPU have waked up near instantaneously.  Glad to see this was a fixable driver issue and not something wrong with my card itself.
     
    Now off to do the Step up program.
