First of all let me say I am a TOTAL NOVICE at this type of thing. I bought the power supply took my old ps out and took a picture of the connections. I then got distracted by the unexpected arrival of out of town company and did not get back to it for 2 days. Now the picture is missing from my phone and I can only remember 2 of the connections. So now I have a boat anchor that looks like a cpu sitting on my dining room table! My husband is more than slightly ticked off about this so can some one please send me a PIC of where the other connections are? I remembered cpu1 connection and cpu2 connection and I think cpu3 connection is somewhere in there but for the life of me have no idea where to connect it in there. I don't need a boat anchor, old as it is, I need the computer. lol. HELP!!!

Connect power to: MB has 24 pin ---> 24-Pin ATX cable MB has CPU power ---> (8-pin is just the two 4-pin) 4+4-Pin EPS12V cable - some MB support only One 4-Pin others have connector for two = 8-pin Graphics Card (Video Card) -- PCIe Cable 6-pin or 8-pin ---> low powered Cards do not have any external power connections HD & CD/DVD needs power ---> SATA = small flat wire OR Molex (4- holes in a row, usually milky white in color) Check that all fans are connected to a power source, can be connected to the MB or to the PSU MB = motherboard PSU = Power Supply Unit

Refer to your motherboard manual as to where the connections go..All should be explained there. All connectors are keyed so that they will only fit into the right place and are normally marked on the motherboard connector end as to where they go.

Thank you by the way your information was very helpful. Not sure I did it right but your information was good. This is all about user ineptness, lol.

so are you talking an inside or outside connection? Got the mother board connected ok I think. lol. the keyboard plugs into the back of the cpu with a round plug, the mouse is a usb connection, neither will work. I got it to turn on and the fan to operate, I guess that is progress.

so does it sound like I have the inside connections correct? Is this just something I am doing incorrectly externally?

Always unplug the PC after shutdown, wait 10 seconds or so -then press & hold the "start button" this allows the Capacitors in the PSU to discharge Go back and Confirm connections to MB are fully seated & locked in place - though these would normally stop PC from Booting 20-pin OR 24-pin CPU - called ( 4-pin ATX +12) or or could be a 8-pin EPS --- depends on the age of you PC Sounds like you need to hold the Power "start" button till Windows shuts down. - Your PC starts & you see the logon screen on your monitor ? It could be the MB settings in BIOS - this is where you set your MB to work with your hardware have a second KB to test with ? If you press the "delete key" in rapid fire while the PC is first starting - (before you see anything on the screen) do you go to the BIOS screen ?

So, here I am with another problem, sigh. The computer works fine except for some reason it will not connect to the internet. Device Manager says the Wi Fi adapter is working properly, the networks show up but for some reason it will not connect. Keeps telling me that the network association failed due to an unknow problem. Did I connect something incorrectly on the power supply that would cause this? I tried customer support at my I.P. but they said it was an adapter issue and could not help me (did not even try to see if settings were off or something). Zero response from adapter people. I am at a total loss and about ready to give up and resign myself to the boat anchor solution, lol. Can you help? or direct me to someone who can? Thanks in advance for even responding, more that I got from the others I tried.

Sounds like your router/modem has a problem. Try resetting them. Unplug them for like a minute then plug them back in. Let everything sync up for about 5 minutes. Restart the pc, and try again.
