Whats the best CPU for a Z170mobo ?

    For a Z170 chipset mobo I'd roll with an i7-7700K (Kaby Lake) processor..The 'K' means it has an unlocked multiplier for overclocking.

    But to save you some grief, be aware that a BIOS update is needed for Kaby Lake processors to work in a Z170 mobo..Otherwise you'd have to put some older Skylake processor such as an i7-6700 in it just so it would work to update the BIOS, then put a Kaby Lake in it..Or swap out the BIOS chip (on mobos with a replaceable one) with one that's been updated..Probably wouldn't even boot with an older BIOS and a Kaby Lake processor.

    i use the 170 motherboard and i use the 6700k core i 7 i might not be as fast but its a good cpu and i still get high bench marks
