I walked up to the 2 techs and jokingly said, "So you guys installing a couple 2080TIs for us?" I got a completely blank stare. They had no clue what a 2080Ti was and thought I was asking a serious question.

+1. Consumer PC products are virtually unknown in the enterprise environment.

Must not be an Aerospace Company GTX Cards are the best Space Venture Graphics Cards. Most of the Software for the above run best on GTX Gaming Graphics Cards. But Very Slow to change and even Aerospace Software would be at lest 2 Years behind to even think of an RTX Graphics Card. Engineering Tools | AGI or better known as Satellite Tool Kit or STK But then the Server Side of Enterprise IT would have no Clue, but the Desktop and End User Enterprise IT Support would know. (Well maybe not the Help Desk) Just to clarify... This is a joke. It is not like the Enterprise IT Server Team is going to put a Desktop Graphics Card in a Server Rack with 32 Blades and 124 Terabyte Raid Rack. Ever wonder why the UNIX and Windows Enterprise IT Support Teams are still separate. Because the Windows Teams still call UNIX by the real name UN9. Just to clarify... This really is a joke.

I'm IT... but let's face it... 2080 TI's for a server isn't going to help anyone. Especially since most servers are either a 1T or 2T height. So, in my mind the question was a tad ridiculous.

It was meant to be ridiculous, a joke, a funny comment. Apparently that intent was lost on them as well.

Depends on what type of IT they are. Some only mess with software. It's like asking a sanitary engineer how a rocket works because they have engineer in their job title.

We have color printers at our disposal too, but there's something wrong with them. They print all the colors at once so everything comes out black.

There are 1U tall server cases that support 4 PCI expansion slots, they are flipped facing horizontal with two banks of two slots. OR 2U cases that can do 6 expansion slots

Yeah... but face it... that's not a standard server.. Most Dell, HP stuff doesn't support it... and those brands are pretty much what an Enterprise wide system will choose.

As a sys admin I've had a few questions like this asked before, once when I was replacing an old desktop for an accountant, he asked if his new system would be an i7 with a Titan, I literly ignored him because it's a stupid question and I had more pressing things than his stupid question
