  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat

  • Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
  • From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."

Didn't see your earlier edit, but yes, the release notes are the same because they went back to improve a few places where the overclocking could be improved or saw a little instability while overclocking with the SKX-Refresh CPUs.

Do you feel 1.09 is better than the new one? Are you getting better temps/clocks? I ask because I just got my board and CPU and it has 1.07 and I'd like to know what I should update to. Thanks

It depends on what CPU you have, is it one of the newer refresh CPU's? If so then yes you will want the newer bios

That's a good point. I'm using 9800x, so I will update to 1.14 when I get home. Thanks!

I just bought an X299 Dark and i9-9900X Skylake-X refresh. Is the new BIOS absolutely required to even boot the CPU? I don't have an older CPU to update the BIOS.

    No,
*SKX-Refresh CPUs are supported with earlier BIOS versions, but recommended to update to 1.12 for best stability/overclock potential

I don't have it yet, and was wondering if I'd need to request a BIOS chip with the new firmware or borrow an old CPU.

Hope someone can help and not call me out for being ignorant, PLEASE?

I started with whichever BIOS was released just prior to the one that introduced OC Robot and since I was just building my PC at the time, flashed to the most current and whatever, all good.

Then I believe I missed one release and am currently on 1.12. Before flashing, because I do use the BIOS switch with all 3 loaded with specific profiles depending on the workload (or gameload) I happen to need, I made sure to save all of my BIOS settings to USB (actually used 2, just for piece of mind) and after flashing to 1.12, I was UNABLE to load any of my saved settings.

Is this normal? If not, please advise with any recommendations should I chose to go to 1.14 (not on any 99xx CPU, but I do like to keep everything current).

You cannot used saved profiles from one version to another. You have to have your profiles saved for each version as some versions may not have all the same options

All you can do is either flash w/ a Skylake X or Kabylake X CPU or if you don't have access to one contact support for a replacement bios chip as I had to do back in Oct '19.  They sent it out very fast and even let me keep the original chip as a spare.
