Which VMD’s are the M.2 sockets connected to on the X299 Dark?

I have two identical M2 ssd’s in each of the actively cooled sockets. For some reason, the motherboard only assigns a VMD to the m2 PM1 slot and it thinks the m2 in the PM2 slot is a SATA ssd so doesn’t assign a VMD number to it all.

I’m trying to put the drives in RAID 0 with a VROC key but if only one of the drives is recognised by the CPU, only that drives gets a VMD number.

Is the PM2 m2 socket not a proper fully fledged pci-e socket or something? Is it attached to the PCH or the CPU? Coz it looks like it’s PCH only

Look at your included test bench PCB - has them marked. PM2 is the one that runs across the ends of the PCIe lanes, PM1 is in between PE1 and PE2

Did you set PM2 for CPU? You did get a 44 lane CPU correct?

Mine are set just like yours in the pictures you sent. Yet only one of the m2 drives shows up on the VROC controller. The other shows up in the intel rste menu as if it’s just a SATA ssd.

    What drives are these?

What CPU are you using? 44 lane or 28 lane?

It’s the new i7 9800X and both drives are Samsung 970 EVO 2TB. The only other card I have in the mobo is a RTX2080 in the top 16x pci-e slot.

I was just looking over the X299 Dark PDF - just not seeing any mention of weather or not both are available for VROC
    What bios version?

I am heading off to work, will check back when I get home to see if you got anywhere with this

I’m using bios 1.12 the latest. At the moment it looks as if only PM1 M2 slot is VROC. I’ll investigate further. I can always use my Angelbird card if needs be for the 2nd M2 but it’d be nice to not have to.
