Hi.

I just upgraded to an EVGA Supernova T2 1600 from a P2 1200. I left the stock cables from P2 1200 and connected them to the 1600 T2 in order to make things faster. All is working ok, but would like to know if the 1200 P2 cables are totally compatible with 1600 T2 and same AWG's.

Thanks in advance.

SuperNOVA G2/G3/P2/T2 Power Supplies can use the Same Cables (and a few newer models)
The 1600 24 Pin cable is the biggest of all and Mark, you would not want to use a G2 Cable from a 750 PSU
But all the cables you can use between.

No (They are not all 16 AWG Wires) you should Not use a 1200 P2 24-Pin Cable on the 1600 T2 Power Supply and why I stated this above.
The 1600 T2 24-Pin Cable is larger and heavier than the 1200 P2 24-Pin Cable as well as larger and heavier then the 1600 G2 24-Pin Cable
The 1600 T2 24-Pin Cable is marked for the 1600T/2000 the 1600 G2 Cable is marked for the 1600 but Not the 2000.
Maybe you can use the 1200 P2 24-Pin cable on the 1600 G2 but I would not recommend it as well.

It would best to ask EVGA if you can use the 1200 P2 24-Pin Cable on the 1600 T2 Power Supply
Though it would be very helpful to all if EVGA would Post the AWG Wire Gage/Size under the Specs under Both the PSU and the PSU Cable Sets.

Cables for all EVGA SuperNOVA G2/G3/P2/T2 PSUs are interchangeable. That has been stated on the forums may times. If you want to confirm you can call evga yourself.

I just asked about 24pin because I find it thicker in the 1600T2. I guess there won't be problem at all with the P2 24pin cable, since the difference should be in some of the cables are not awg16 or more filtering included, but probably will switch to original.

In regards to CPU EPS cables, are they the same awg??? These are the more problematic cables as I have a 7980xe overclocked to 4.8 24/7. 24pin cable will not carry so much power, so doubt it gets melted.

I also received an email from EVGA support in which they tell me to use the T2 cables. In their words, P2 cables are compatible, but can cause failure over time.

Thanks to both for your answers.

Conflict with GOD is never a good thing.

More like evga states one thing and then turns around and states another.

EVGA's response according to the op...

"The P2 cable is compatible but may cause failure."

To me that tells me that cable isn't compatible.

I go the same answer as well.

The P2 and the T2 should have the same pinout. However, I would still recommend using the original cable the power supply came with to prevent any possible issues. Using the cables that "came with the new PSU" is the Safe "standard answer".

it is even printed in the PSU manual in Red

    https://www.evga.com/support/manuals/files/220-T2-1600.pdf
    (excerpt)

    WARNING 2 :
Only use included cables or cables purchased from EVGA.com that are specifically labeled for your PSU.
Using incorrect cables runs the risk of catastrophic failure.

I usually look at the Compatibility Tab on the PSU page ---> See what cables are available & if the Part number matches between two different PSU

    and the punchline is:   Both the 1600W T2 & 1200W P2  list ---> P/N: 100-CW-1300-B9 as compatible with the PSU ????

Are the "stock cable" the same as the individually sleeved cables that are purchased separately ?

If so, then is the "compatibly list" correct becomes the next question ?

    Thanks

Meanwhile my brother bought me an 850 B3 cable kit after talking to a sales rep (AFAIK)

Seems that B2, B3, G2, G3, GM, GP, PQ, P2 and T2 cables are fully interchangeable.???

Lately I've seen cables side-labeled IG, IB, CG, BG, BQ, BB and B1 (from my nex750b)
So... What's the deal with all o'them.?
