I submitted my Step Up back in late September for an RTX2080 (stepping up from a GTX1060 6GB SSC). Here it is early December, and I have yet to hear anything back. When will I be able to get this process started? I figured wait times would be extended due to the nature of the RTX launch, but I'm starting my 3rd month now, and still waiting. What's the hold up? If I had known the wait would be THIS long, I would have just returned the card. At this point, I might as well sell it and cut my losses. It would be different if EVGA RTX cards are out of stock everywhere, but they're not. The EVGA RTX2080 seems to be readily available at every website I visit. What's the hold up?

You have already started the process. At this point the only thing that can be done is to wait for your request to move to through the queue, you will then be emailed when it is time to take further action.

The stock for retailers, including EVGA.com and EVGA's eBay store are different stock from the Step-Up program. Retail stock does not affect or influence Step-Up stock.

Unfortunately we do not have any estimates for how long the Step Up queue may take for any one individual.

Well if they cannot give you an idea of how long it is taking them to process the  step up someone need sacking for not doing there job.
I would say that they are so embarrassed at how long is is taking them that they do not want to give you an answer.
The answer they gave, (Unfortunately we do not have any estimates for how long the Step Up queue may take for any one individual)
is a wonderful sod off answer.
JUST TELL HIM HOW LONG THE AVERAGE QUE WAIT IS!!!
And that is an answer that you do have..

This isn't something new, in the entire time I've worked here we have never given estimates for the Step Up queue.

Well what can I say but awesome customer service. Perhaps that is a policy that you should take a look at?
After all it is your customers that make your company and not giving out readily available answers to simple questions is very poor service indeed.

Right now supplies of all RTX products are very tight so step-ups might take a while

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

If you have the readily available answer, please share.

If a user enters the stepup, they enter knowing they have to wait for their number to be called. The warning that step up would take longer than normal was up the moment the cards were added to the list.

The 1080/1070 step ups took quite a few months as well. If a member is in a rush to grab a card, they should purchase directly rather than enter the step up queue.

Demanding a company change their policy to suite what you want does not work. The step up program does not drive EVGA as a company. The step up program is a unique program to only one GPU manufacturer.

    Hello,
We would love to tell you how much when your Step Up would be approved and processed. Trust me, I'm a pretty impatient guy so I would be fairly jittery myself if I was in your spot. However, with graphics card launches and supply being tight during launch periods, we simply can't as we have stock allocations that need to be fulfilled (reminder that we are the manufacturer and the only manufacturer that offers a program like this as Scarlet stated) So my deepest apologies that we can give you a time and date on when your Step Up will be approved but do know that you are in the queue and when the time comes you will be notified.

If you wish to provide feedback please feel free to do so here https://www.evga.com/support/suggestions.asp EVGA takes all feedback to heart.

    Happy Holidays,
    Jose C.

I knew the time frame would be extended going in, but I guess I underestimated the wait time. I figured it would be like a month and a half, maybe two, not 3 or 4 months. I mean it is definitely a “perk” but it’s not like we’re getting these cards for free. We still have to come out of pocket a chunk of change plus what we paid for the traded EVGA card, so either way, EVGA got a full purchase out of us. I’ve been a loyal EVGA fan since 2008, but this is my first step up attempt. Seems kind of crappy getting put at the bottom of the priority list when I’ve been a long time customer (and referrer) of GPUs, motherboards and power supplies for 10 years now. When I went to build my new rig, EVGA was my first stop for GPU (the aforementioned 1060) and PSU (G3 750W). Hell I would have gone EVGA for the mobo too if they supported AMD. Seems like now they’re telling me “new customers get first priority.”

Oh well, I will continue to wait.

some folks waited nearly 6 months for their step-up to arrive when the 1080/1070 launch happened.  It can take a good bit of time depending on what the arriving GPU offers. Hopefully yours doesn't take quite that long.

Users are only paying full price of the newest card also.  If you had a 1080ti (just using this for an example) and paid $799 for it brand new then traded it in on the $799 2080, you would only being paying the shipping for the cards outside of the initial payment. You wouldn't be paying for a brand new card (although you will absolutely receive a brand new card), or losing resale value of the 1080ti like all of the other brands would be.  EVGA is absolutely losing the value of the 1080ti in the deal, because they cannot resell it for $799, so you basically had a loaner card in the process of waiting.  They are able to use the old card as a B Stock item or they can use it as a certified replacement for RMA's, but they won't make nearly the money off of the card that other companies would.

Other brands would have the user selling their original card for $600 (if they can get that), then waiting to buy the next card, and losing all of the shipping and fees, before they can even consider picking up the next generation card.

Step up may take a while, but it is definitely a really unique program and extremely generous to the end user over the company.

They absolutely aren't tight in any capacity. The 2080 has been in stock basically everywhere for like two months now.

Only one model is on the step up list, and it has been sold out. Other models do not count toward step up, so they don’t change the stock for step up.

Also, “like two months” is more “like a few weeks”. Many models still stay sold out when they arrive because buyers want those specific models.

It will probably ship out today. It takes up to 3 business days after receipt for EVGA to verify the old card and process the new card shipment. Saturday and Sunday are not business days, so today would be day 3.

My step up for the GTX 1080 when it was first released took from June to December.
