Hi folks,

I've just built a system with the following parts:

- Intel i7 9700k
- EVGA Z370 FTW
- HyperX Fury (2 sticks, 16GB each)
- EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW

Unfortunately, the error LED, after displaying a sequence of initialization numbers, is hanging on the number '18', which seems to be the last stage of "Pre-Memory North Bridge Initialization". Additionally, I've seen the system restart a few times after hanging on '18' for awhile, though this is not easily reproduced. Additionally, the error LED for the PCIe slot into which the GPU is plugged is lit. The memory is in the correct slots (slots 2, 4 are filled). For a short while when the computer first boots up, the memory initialization error LED is lit, but this turns off quickly. There is no output to the monitor (tested with both a monitor through the motherboard and also through the GPU).

Does anybody have any ideas of what this issue could be, or how I can debug it further?

Thanks in advance!

Since you're running a 9700k your problem could be due to an out of date bios. For a 9700k you need to use bios 1.09.

Do you have any pointers on how I'd go about doing that? I am unable to get into the BIOS to try to update; it doesn't seem that there is any output at the moment.

You only have a few options...

#1 Send the board in to evga for reflashing.
#2 Borrow a cpu that is compatible with the board and update the bios.
#3 Buy an i3 8100 just for updating the bios.

Are there other potential issues that would give rise to the problems I'm seeing to rule out before trying a different CPU or sending EVGA the board?

I unfortunately didn't have a supported CPU on hand, so I ordered an i3 8100 which should arrive tomorrow, at which point I'll try booting with it. I'll let you all know what happens. Hopefully it'll get the build up and running!

Board was packaged with 1.08, and updating to 1.09 fixed the issue! Thanks for the help!
