Well, it's been a couple years, I guess it's time once again to chop up the CC and get a new number issued.  Someone presented a duplicate card in Bogota Columbia and got some shoes on my behalf.  Chase is usually on the ball detecting these things and denying the charge.  This one slipped through.  You'd think that a physical card presented in a country that I don't have a history of going to would raise a trailer load of red flags.

And here I am, Bank of America blocked my card after going on a shopping spree in my own hometown, couldn't pump gas until I called them and waited for them to get someone to help me. LOL.

Now they have automated fraud alerts where you verify online or through text though.

At least you'll get your money back!

Yup.. I just noticed it when I was making a payment.  That string of Spanish in the charge line jumped out like a sore thumb.

Ouch.  Both times that I've caught it in recent years it's been shoes for some reason.  Maybe Mrs Marcos has been hacking my stuff.  LOL

Ugh! For me it was a couple of weeks after vacationing in OC Maryland. Just before I took the trip I got a new card and only used that one in one restaurant there.
I had returned home and was working where I had no cell service. I went to a deli for lunch and my card was declined on payday afternoon. I figured there was a holdup on the direct deposit, didn't think much of it and paid cash.
When I got back into cell range I started getting text alerts from my bank. I saw the deposit and a bunch of pending pos charge's in Delaware. Available balance was around $7.50.
I called my bank and they saw my declined charge in NY. She said the charges in Delaware were all at a Walmart and Bestbuy. Then a declined attempt at a footlocker (lol).
As we were talking, another charge came through at an ice cream shop.
I got word from the bank the following day that the woman was cuffed while eating an ice cream cone.
That was the cherry on top!!

Must have been a dunkin donuts next door
    (Forgive the stereotype )

It's a shame there isn't some kind of device, like a ban hammer/boxing glove, heck or even a purse with bricks in it. When the fraudster is found out, from terminal BAM!!! Maybe we will get it when we have the flying cars....

I'd prefer a double barreled sawed off poke out or at least a bear trap on the ankle

It's just an inconvenience.  One thing I do is to never use my atm card anywhere except for at an atm (paying attention to look for skimmers) or at the bank.  Using it for a CC at retail stores or online means that when (not if) the number is compromised, they can clean your checking account out and you have to wait for the bank to reimburse you.

+1 on always using a credit and not a debit card.

Haywire, I created a thread of a problem that's going on right now, check it out and see if this might have been caused by this same incident :
