So I've been playing around with it for a few days now, and I can't figure something out. Why on the section where I can adjust the fan curve does the option for "Enable Automatic Control" differ from the "Auto" under the fan speed section on the PCB overview section?

For example, if I set a specific curve for the fan then I have to make sure "Enable Automatic Control" is checked. But whenever I adjust settings while on the PCB image with the "Fan Speed" section [not adjusting that] and hit apply, it turns off "Enable Automatic Control" despite "Auto" still being highlighted, and so card stops using my fan curve. I have to go back to the fan curve section, check "Enable Automatic Control" once more and reapply it.

Is this how it is supposed to function?

So you're saying when you adjust other settings on the pcb page such as clock speeds the enable automatic fan control option gets unchecked? No, I don't think that is the way it's suppose to work at all.

Perhaps the Fan Speed on the main screen is more for manually setting a set fan speed?
Like if I want to just set mine to 100% for say a benchmark I want to run, I will just move the sliders over full and hit apply.
So in essence it sets the fans at whatever I set them to , to run a constant speed at the setting I chose, so in effect negating the automatic fan control setting I had selected with my fan curve.

I don't know obviously if that is the case and how designed, just speculating.

Edit: Well I just re-read OP , think I had read it wrong as does not appear he was messing with the fan sliders.

I have wondered about this same exact behavior. Whole interface is extremely non-intuitive. Throw in all of the showstopping bugs and it’s a dumpster fire of a product.

Just updated to 0.3.6 and I think they fixed it, does it fix it for you too?

Yes, 0.3.6 finally fixed some things. 0.3.7 is out and I’m apprehensive to try it as it, now that things are finally working...

V1.0.2 shows as latest as of 2/8/2020. I am also confused re "auto fan control" on/off and how that affects fan curve controls. Does auto off allow fan curve controls to set fans or not ? Also played with lock/unlock setting and that does not seem to affect anything. Then "auto off" seemed to allow fan curve controls to dominate for awhile but later it did not work. Setting curve control does not seem particularly sensitive toi GPU temps as I set it to 30 just to test fan speeds with "auto off" and got to 35 C with no fan action. What is maddening is it will work for a bit and then stop working.  Seems awfully buggy to me. A simple declarative statement from EVGA on how these settings do, or do not, interact would be of great help.

i just got precision x1 and was stumped, but after closer squinting i saw the option. click on fan speed and look for fan curve control and enable the box

I've been searching for the solution to automatic fan speed control for over a week, and, thank you for the solution.  EVGA should make this selection box more prominent.  Maybe make a tag that says "ON/OFF" or make the check box larger or maybe put a large arrow pointing at the box.  Of course it's obvious when you know the answer.
