Been a while since I've upgraded my computer. I'm on Sandy Bridge E. LGA 2066 looks good and I think it's finally a worthwhile upgrade. I know EVGA hasn't had a very good run with mobo's since x58. Are their boards finally up to the same reliability and performance as other manufacturers? If not, who is currently the best? I know Asus has a bad run for a while as well. I've been on an Asus rampage for about 6 years without any issues. Would like to go EVGA but only if their stuff is up to par with everyone else. Thanks!

    Hello,

I know my response may seem a bit biased, but I have an MSI motherboard currently for my X299 Build, and having been able to use the X299 Dark, and FTW K, they are great boards. I do wish I had the X299 Dark board in place of my current one. The board and the BIOS seem to flow really well for me and my use cases, but sadly I do not want to pay for another board because the other would just sit around, or I would feel the need to spend more money to build a second one, and I know the latter option will be chosen ;D

"better than the others?" this is a self question based on your needs or what you are looking for in a Motherboard.
Well the current sale is nice but I did pay full price back in December of 2017 when it was first released.
What make is better is in each owners view.
For me what makes it better it is EVGA, The Best X299 VRM Cooling of any Motherboard Maker.
You yourself will need to compare this Motherboard to all the rest and then ask of what features you like or do not like and then ask about features you are looking for and ones you need over the ones you do not need.
Like I needed at least 10 or more Cores to support my projects and M.2 Support and the best VRM Cooling because I did not want to install Motherboard Water Blocks. But above all let's not forget the Support that EVGA Provides to their Customers.
But this Still Applies; You said it best, it is "juicier than the others"

From an overclocking perspective, the VRM cooling is fantastic. I love the cutouts / angled power pins for cable management. I love the Southbridge / M.2 cooling design. Etc.
Visual perspective, I love the coloring of the Dark and the overall look of it. It just looks simple and clean. I like that sort of design.

End of the day though, it is always your decision! :)

    1. I chose the quality of the components, I live in an extremely hot and humid place 90% + humidity, 12 layers pcbs
1-the  sound that is not REALTEC codec
2- support, EVGA looks like they're friend
3- brand has direct contact with social network, gives me security and truhste, if something goes wrong I have a 5 year warranty
    4-NO R G B
    5 BEEP ! speaker oldschool
    sorry about my english.

Evga is very good in motherboard after 2013 their customer support and reliability is very good even youtubers like jaytwocents, Linus Sabathin, Paul are using evga go with x299 ftw or dark both are very good and evga has won some of best overclocking prizes and go to gamers nexus Steve and buildzoid listed x299 dark as the beast and overkill for x299 Chipset

first, its overkill for x299 platform check youtube gamers nexus and buildzoid their review on x299 dark made me to buy and EVGA customer support is best in the world this tow reason is more than enough to buy DARK
and if you need detail technical review follow the youtube channel

Personally, I like the fact the board does not light up. The glossy black with the gold coloring makes it look great. I think the best way to light up this board would be with RGB RAM. It compliments the board extremely well. And if you use the board to SLI some cards, those will light up with RGB lighting too (likely, obviously there are exceptions of cards without RGB). I do favor some minimalism with system builds though, so this may be my bias.

I feel a copper tubing build would look amazing with the X299 Dark board, complimenting the accents. Maybe I'll look into doing one... I've been wanting to do glass / metal tubing for a while.

That is funny that you would want Rainbows on a Dark Motherboard.
They would have to Rename it the EVGA X299 Light.

PS I am Not an RGB Fan.
