i have one but dont use it much, was a impulse buy because it was on a markdown. the software is the typical hauppauge wintv software, generally has worked pretty good over the years, signal will depend on the antenna you get, small passive HD ones only work well if you are real close to the broadcast towers, larger outdoor amplified ones work best, try to put it in a area with little to no obstructions, the higher you get the better. indoor amplified ones will work better than passive but you still need to within 10 miles or so of the tower, things like weather will effect signal. i have the out door type for my TV for local channels since i use sling. i do have a pcie version also in my video editing rig for video encoding from analog sources, hauppauge makes good product, i have had several over the years going back to the PVR250 pci, one down side is they dont like to keep support for newer version on windows, the PVR250 support 98 and xp and they didnt add support for anything higher.
