Hey y'all, I have been putting the new 2080 through the everyday gaming stress my cards usually get to make sure everything is working properly, and was just wondering what the safe operating temps of this card are, 08G-P4-2182-KR?

IF the X1 software is correct, Playing Far Cry 5 for about 3 hours last night the card saw temps of up to 74c-76c at start, then the fans kick in pretty good and it drops down to 65c-68c, and in some areas it will even drop down into the high 50's. It seems to run cooler as time goes on while playing, so that's good. It idles about 46-47c with the fans resting.

It recovers nicely after shutting down the games BUT, I did have one game crash tonight with just a "oops the game crashed" error from Uplay, It seemed to make windows 10 explorer unresponsive after the crash and I had to do a hard reset, but that's most likely an early release driver issue. (also I did change some graphics settings before that crash so it's probably nothing)

So do those temps look about right?

thanks

Those temps look good to me for how early this is.

Those temps are fine. Are you running default fan curve? If not and you want the card to be a bit cooler, you can always set a more aggressive fan curve in Precision software.

     Yes fans on auto.

Everything seems to be running fine, last night played another 3 hours of FC5 and it ran fine no crashes, so that must have been a fluke. I have it set to ultra in graphics 2560x1080, all settings on.
It bounced around 68-72c the whole time, except in loading menus.

Got a 9422 in 3D Mark TimeSpy, that's MUCH better then my last card, so if those temps are ok I would say it's working fine!!

    thanks y'all!!

I'm getting temperatures WAY OVER this. Should I be worried?
My RTX 2080 XC Gaming (08G-P4-2182-KR) easily reaches 81-85C while playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Definitely getting up there. I'd suggest checking out the thermal paste/increasing the fan speed via msi afterburner. You could also try running with your case door open/off.

Question on this topic. Does a thermal paste swap void the warranty?

No. Just got a response from EVGA Support:

    Hi Anderson,

Thank you for contacting us, some other solutions that you can consider are replacing the thermal grease with a premium replacement and also replacing the chassis fans.

Replacing the thermal grease will not void your warranty, just be sure to reinsert the card. You can try replacing the fans in your case with another brand to see if it improves the airflow.

I hope the information helps improve your thermals, if you need more suggestions or have other questions, let us know and we'll be happy to help.

    Greetings,
    EVGA

Sweet. I keep a good supply of kryonaut and if it can drop your temps 10-14c I'm definitely doing that when I get my new card in. Mine never ran hot because I have a lot of case air flow and keep my room cold, but the cooler the better.

Also did you find it difficult? I haven't seen a teardown video yet but I feel like these huge coolers would have to be pretty well attached. Or is it still just the four screws surrounding the actual GPU?

I didn't find it very difficult, but you have to be extra careful.

At first, I was very confused and I did remove all the tiny screws from the back plate just before I noticed it maybe was not necessary. Just remove the 4 screws around the GPU and I think you will be fine. Be careful with the wire connecting the fans to the PCB, they seem to be very fragile. There is a plastic piece that protects it. Remove it first if you can and the task will be a piece of cake, since it exposes the wires and then it's easier to handle.

Apart from that, it was easier than I expected.

    Cool thanks!
Did you find it at all difficult to reattach the fan headers? I've got large hands and it's usually that kinda thing that trips me up

It was easy to reattach since I removed the plastic piece, that thing really was in the way. Plug the fan header, attach the plastic again and there you go!

When I got my EVGA 2080 XC I was having a slew of heat issues, Even had the card replaced for a 2nd card. Make sure if you have GeForce Experience that the card isn't attempting to render in 4k. After one of their later updates it was automaticaly doing that so I had to go reset that. Right now I am still having temp issues. The minute I fire up Overwatch I'm at 60 degrees just at the main menu and after about 7 min of play I'm pushing 79-80. 2 minutes into a game of rainbow six siege on HIGH settings, not even ultra, which this card should handle, I'm at 70 degrees right off the bat and I cannot get an answer. Changed my case and added FIVE new ML series corsair fans and set a custom fan curve on MSI afterburner because the precision just does not work. I cannot figure it out. I was told they would replace my card with the xc ultra but at this point I feel like that wont help.

Watercool.... I have heat issues with the card (2182, xc) and have a lian li air11 case with 9 fans in it... Crazy good airflow... Still have that card get up to 82 c and after 3 hours of gaming I sweat because it heats up my office. I hear (and hope) the hybrid kit will keep temps at 60-65 c so I ordered one... It comes Monday.
I tried the thermal paste tip the other day... No change... Ive changed fan intake/exhaust config half a dozen times in my case.... No different. Hopefully that aio works
