I went to an aweful lot of trouble to get my hands on 2 of the 1080ti Kingpins. Down here in Australia they are 100% sold out, and i purchased the last 3 of them being sold from inside the country (1 of them was stolen by someone who works for the post, so i had to buy a third). The cards i have owned: 1080ti FTW3 ($1,199aud): 2050Mhz 100% Stable without throttling 1080ti MSI Lightning Z ($1,399): 2088Mhz 100% Stable without throttling 2x 1080ti Kingpins ($1,699): Crash City at default settings The problem: Even at stock settings with 100% fan speed, i get frequent crashes or failed 3DMark Time Spy runs. Sometimes it will make it through, but again, that's at stock settings with mid 19xx frequencies. The moment i try and even touch the power limit or core clock settings i get failed runs or crashes.

Sometimes i will make it through the benchmark fine, but i get frequent crashes. Even attempting to overclock by just increasing the powerlimit results in quick crashes. Motherboard: Asus Maximus Code X Z370 PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra 1000W CPU: 8086K RAM: 32GB G.Skill 4133mhz Troubleshooting attempts: I have run memtest over 10 passes overnight without issue. My CPU overclock is 100% Realbench and OCCT stable over 1 hour tests I have tried the GPU's with stock CPU/Ram settings anyway

Hi lukey! Nice setup you got there! I'm not very familiar with Realbench but i know that OCCT default test is not good enough for stress test. Can you try to run LinX https://linx.en.lo4d.com/ for around 15 mins to see if it's stable? I also suggest you remove 1 of your 1080Ti Kingpin for now. If one has a problem, running 2 at the same time will make it harder to understand which one. If your system is LinX stable then you can go on testing 1 of your Kingpin: put the card settings at stock, run Time Spy and monitor with GPU-Z the GPU core/memory frequencies, the temperature, the vcore, the fan speed... The card should not run higher than 80°C, the frequencies, the voltage and the fan speed should remain stable. Test both of your card this way, 1 by 1 and see what results do you get. You can also use an old version of OCCT, 3.1.0, to test the RAM of the kingpin using the GPU:memtest

Neutro Hi lukey! The card should not run higher than 80°C
I never get the chance to reach those temperatures lol. Crashes are generally around 50c-70c Will run that test in just a few minutes, but I'm not sure why it would even be related to my overclock as this happens with just the standard XMP profile enabled too. Do I actually need to remove a card in order to single out which GPU is causing this? If it crashes with SLI disabled, wouldn't it verify that the first card is the issue? If it doesn't, wouldn't it verify the second card by process of elimination? I only ask because I have a custom desk pc case, and it's a giant hassle to remove everything on it and the giant piece of glass to access everything.

You're right about this being a harder bench to run. Pushed my temps higher than the others, but it still ran fine.

That's good news! It means your CPU / MB / RAM are stable. It's harder because LinX is not a benchmark, it's a stress test tool that uses AVX processor instructions that make it run at higher voltage, thus at its maximum temperature ;) If it crashes with SLI disabled, wouldn't it verify that the first card is the issue? You can indeed test the first card only with SLI disabled. But whatever the results you will still need to test the other card alone to compare the results with the first one. I'm sorry if this is not an easy thing for you to do but it seems mandatory to me if you wanna get this thing straight! And since you'll have to do this, you'd better remove the second card right away to ensure to test the first one without any interferences.

Well, i found a guide on how to "optimize around air" where a special kingpin bios was uploaded. I installed it, it allows a 150% power limit. to achieve 2025Mhz on my first GPU, i need to set the power target to 150% and my core clock to +13, unfortunately i can't make it through Time Spy or Superposition even once. So I'm pretty certain, at least the first GPU is a lemon in terms of the "guaranteed" overclock... Crashing at 60c isn't great.

You said in your first post that you had crashes even at stock settings, so to figure why they happen you'd better set your card to stock settings for now. Once you figure that out you can work on the overclocking ^^ Run Time Spy at stock, monitor the card health using GPU-Z "sensors" tab and see what happens.

Yeah, I just thought "maybe" the new bios would help. Due to the effort of taking apart the desk, I'll swap the cards tomorrow. Here's a result of the absolute best Firestrike result i can pass (its a 50% chance of passing or failing) https://www.mediafire.com...ult.3dmark-result/file

Can you link the validation url instead of the file? ;) Are you running this at stock with SLI disabled? If you got a problem with one of your card, you can use whatever bios you want it won't change anything... Maybe the modified bios could even be the root of the problem even if it is unlikely (no need to swap back for the time beeing).

Only installed the new bios today as a last resort. Had plenty of tests with the first 2 bios switches that come on it. I'm pretty sure it's my first card that stuffed as disabling SLI and I still can't hit 2025stable on it

I think bcavnaugh is right on with pointing at the PSU. Looking at your set up of an 8086k 5.3gh 1.36v, 4x8g ram, and two 1080ti's in sli running at 2000 with 120% and stock mems im showing around a 1300w draw. https://outervision.com/b/sCVDmE This may or may not be your issue but i would look there first. These are really great cards when pushed. I hope you find the issue.

I'd suggest buying a power meter so that you can check what it is drawing from the wall before jumping to the conclusion that the PSU isn't up to the task. :)

I would be much happier to find GTX1080Ti K|NGP|N Hydro Copper for same price as I can find Poseidon, 580-600 euro. She would work great on EVGA 1200 P2. With power connectors on back side to look clean my PC-O11 WXC.
