Hi.

Z370 FTW
i5 8500
GTX970
2 x 4GB DDR4 Corsair (slots 2 & 4)
1 x SSD
1 x HDD
Wifi card in M.2 socket 1

First time build, turns on and beeps, lights and fans working, but nothing output from MB HDMI, nor GPU HDMI. Error code A2 then defaults to temp. Removed the GPU and PC goes to on screen BIOS. Tried GPU in slot PE2 and PE4. Does this mean my GPU is broken?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

A2 is Normal at the end and then the OS Boots and you see the Temps.
    CPU Intel® UHD Graphics 630
Is CSM Enabled or Disabled in the Bios?
"PC goes to on screen BIOS" Then the Intel® UHD Graphics 630 is working.
Some GTX 970 do not support UEFI Bios so you may need to set the CSM to Enabled and the Video to Legacy Mode.

Thanks very much for that, I really appreciate it.

I made those changes and it worked!!! For future reference I need to remember to swap the HDMI cable over from the motherboard to the GPU, as it now won't post out of the motherboard only the GPU.

    Thanks very much for that.

I checked CSM (under the boot menu) was enabled, which I think is the default and the 'other PCI devices' to Legacy. This didn't work unfortunately. No bios screen.

Switching to CSM disabled I get d6 error (no console output devices are found), and no bios screen.

With the GTX 790 installed and the Intel® UHD Graphics 630 Disabled in the Bios?
    Are you using a TV?
Use the DP or DVI Port on your GTX 970 Not the HDMI

Intel® UHD Graphics 630 Disabled in the Bios

How do you have your PCIe Setup in the Bios?

Do you see the GPU in the Upper Right Corner of the Bios Screen?

Clear CMOS then boot with the onboard graphics so you can get into the bios - check bios version and update if needed
Then do what bcavnaugh said about the cable
