EVGA do not want You to disassemble the 780 hydro copper water block. I dont know if mine is filled with resedue from earlier use of colors in the coolingsystem - however found a lot of gunk in the CPU waterblock. Seems that the final screws needed to be removed are covered by the front name plate.

I dont want to "pry" it open - althoug it could be that the piece is just glued together.

Anyone tryed to disassemble a 780 hydro copper block?

The reason they don't want you to open it is likely due to the increased risk of not putting the rubber O-ring back on correctly, thus causing a leak. At least that is what I would think...

Your card is well out of warranty, so I'd say go for it. Just be careful pulling it apart - you do not want to damage the O-ring.

Fill the Hydro Copper Water Block with White Vinegar and let is set over night.
Shake it every few hours.
Do not close the Port Holes because you want to let the air out.
Do this 2 times and it will come clean.
Then Flush it with hot Distilled Water two or three times and let Dry for 24 Hours before using.
Do Not Use Bleach of any Kind, Ammonia, or Alcohol inside the Water Block.
Do Not Use Bleach of any Kind and Ammonia to clean the outside of the Water Block.
Do Not Use any type of Lime & Rust Remover like CLR and Lime Away on the Water Block.

I can give you personal experience with cleaning HC block without disassembling.

White vinegar will do its thing but it’s not good for the O-rings, it will affect their elasticity and ultimately longevity. Get Mayhems Blitz #2 and run through the block for several hours it will do its magic. If you head out to Mayhems forum you will find somewhere post from 1-2 years ago where I cleaned 3 of my blocks after constant use (pretty much 24/7) for almost 2 years. After the cleaning process I took 1 block apart and it was amazingly clean....like brand new..Mayhems Blitz is truly miracle potion, it’s like a shampoo on steroids, yet, gentle on nickel plating and O-rings you never have to take any part of your WC component apart I use it annually, you don’t have to but my system is sparkled clean and never taking apart (7 years now)

Found some SysClean-HPD from Aqualine at my shelf - and used that in the same way as the Mayhem product. Time will show if this product is as good as the Mayhems. But thanks for Your advice - as it saved me the trouple of trying to open the Swiftech waterblock. It is much more easy to op en the 980ti EK waterblocks - so no problem there. Thanks again.

Primochill also has some system cleaners and prep mixes you can use but as bcavnaugh has suggested, you can use white vinegar. Will do the job and is cheaper.

Note about Mayhems Blitz Pro Cleaning System is you must remove the Radiator from your Loop and you cannot use this in a Water Loop.
I would go so far as saying that you should remove the Radiator altogether from your Computer.
I Also recommend that you do not use this Product inside your home, Outside or in the Garage.
