Be sure to check out the PSU "filter" on the DG 7* series. EVGA doesn't show off any images of it, due to how bad of a filter it is. It's just dust filter fabric, no edge at all around it to make it easier to reinstall without having to tip the case all the way over. The version with RGB logo, you can't see the front logo at all on the white version. Some of the reviews i have seen, they show higher temps with the front panel cover on it.
 
My advice, check out what other mfg offer before you decide. You can better cases with more features for less money.

The issues i have seen people report about evga DG-8* case.

• Bottom right side fan spot is blocked by 90%
• White led lights can turn yellow on you

MunkyMods makes an acrylic base that separates the "basement" from the rest of the case. It essentially adds a nice "floor" to work with.
It helped me out with my build a great deal.

Regardless of brand you go with I think an external drive would be the best way to get the 5.25". Most of the good case companies have stopped adding them. You can do an drive by itself or an enclosure for using a drive you already own. By having it outside of the case you allow for better airflow and less cables running inside.

That is what I am doing, only reason I would have needed one would have been for my current DVD drive, just going to go external for this new build. It is not very often I even use it anymore.
 
I think I have pretty much decided on the DG-87 case for this build.

I really don't want to get in elaborate full water coolers, and I know the H100i has been flawless on my 4820k for the last 5 years.

I suggest before you buy H150i PRO RGB to compare him with 115i PRO RGB.
There is a chance to save more than 50$ for 5C temp difference.

If you have a optical drive at the top of your case, it's not restricting air flow to any hardware.  What does restrict air flow is the right side panel on the DG-8* series case. The bottom fan air flow is restricted.
