Google announced yesterday the birth of the so-called "Project Stream". As the name suggests, this initiative is intended to offer end users the possibility of playing any game from any device and with only one requirement: to have access to the Google Chrome browser. The initial launch has been specially striking thanks to Google's alliance with Ubisoft. This collaboration has resulted in a demonstration in which users can enjoy Assassin's Creed: Odyssey directly through their Chrome browser and without the need for a powerful PC or a console and all the hardware resources that these machines provide. the future that people once dreamed of with OnLive might not be too far away.

If they can get the latency in check, this could end up being very cool!

They neglected to mention the need for broadband, which is still not available in many areas.. like mine.  I don't consider 1.3kbps (peak, ideal, never actually achieved) DSL broadband.

It'll end up like every other such service to come along. Dead as a door nail. Disappointing that these companies are still trying to deliver the ability to stream games without having to install them when the current internet infrastructure still isn't the greatest.

Truly unlimited 5G might be the savior for rural areas if they place towers correctly and depending on how well 5G frequencies carry.  Right now I only have one bar of 4G although that varies depending on conditions.  Of course, I'm in a low area so I'm not holding my breath that 5G will be any better.

As already mentioned, the infrastructure required for this just doesn't really exist yet. Aside from that, given the forum we're all commenting on, I would assume I'm not alone in saying that I enjoy building my own PC and playing games that have been installed. Then there's the fact that without an inernet connection, you won't be able to play your games. While I do have a fast internet connection, outages due to storms or other occurences happen often enough to be an annoyance. Unless, this is going to be purely subscriotion based, I don't really see much difference between this and always online DRM. But hey, big gaming companies like EA want as much as possible for every thing to be focused around "Live Services", right? No, thanks.

Do you know how many pipe dreams Google tries to sell over the years , that never come to light ??

It's wonderful to "dare to dream"  , but every once in awhile get your heads out of the clouds and complete something realistic. .

This would work great on college campuses where thin and light laptops (even Chromebooks) rule and the networking infrastructure is often extremely robust.
That is unless the students actually need to get anything done...

We all very much familiar with this PC Gaming. PC games are very much interesting. When I am trying to install it on my Windows 10 it is showing crashing issue. This problem is happening after updating the OS. If anyone faces this, please share with us. to know in details you may visit

It could also be the kind of thing where we developers try to make games that cover up lag with dialog options or turn based combat if they find that real time is fighting lag. We could also see a lot more quick time event for the same reason.
