Hey there, I recently downloaded HWInfo64 and when I launch it, it says that my GPU is the "EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 DT iCX" instead of the "EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX" is that some wrong reading or what?

Thanks in advance

What is your part number and what bios revision is loaded?

It may just be misreading the device id or have the wrong bios loaded. Your part number and bios number should be able to give a little insight as to what is happening.

Also, make sure that you have the most up to date HWInfo.  It should be 5.88

Ran it just now and it says I have a 1080TI Black Edition...that's how specific it should read the card

If I was to buy the DT version, I wouldn't even ask captain obvious, thanks though.

Where can I see the BIOS Version? My part number is: 08G-P4-6686-KR plus correct me if I'm wrong but DT version would be mentioned on the box of the card as well, wouldn't it?

If the BIOS Version mentioned in GPU-Z is correct then its the 86.04.60.40.82

HWInfo64 version is 5.88-3510

Gpu z shows your bios belongs to the DT

Contact evga through a support ticket (go through my products if you can) and they can send you the bios exe file that will update the bios for you.

Also, check the second bios. The switch should be close to the power plugs on the card. It’s tiny, but switch it to the other bios and see if that reports the incorrect model as well.

Do I have to do this while PC is on, OFF, or with Power cord removed from PSU? And if it reports or doesn’t report the same what shall I do?

Shut the pc down, switch it over, power back up.

If it shows properly, that is a good thing. You will only need to update one bios. If not, you will need to request both bios versions for the master and the slave switch.

I would suggest requesting both Bios for the card from evga at this point. They should definitely be able to provide you with that assistance.

Looks like the 1080 SC GamingSC2 GamingFTW GamingFTW2 Gaming, & FTW2 DT Gaming all use the same vbios, so it's a hwinfo64 hardware identification error.

What  you can do is contact the creator of HWInfo.  I did when the ICX cards were first released.  I had the 1080 SC2 with the ICX controllers and cooler.  The author had me create a hardware profile for the video card and within a few days the card read correctly.    www.hwinfo.com

The author of the software is very accommodating...Give that a try

GPUz and Precision X will show the SSID this should equal the numbers in the part number listed on our website, that will help you know what card you have.

Everything is security.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
According to PrecisionX i'm using 1080 FTW2 (That's correct) and there are no BIOS available at this time, regarding the EVGA support I'm using the latest one!

I will do that, sure thanks for suggesting it.

If I press "Lookup" in GPU-Z redirects me to EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 w/ iCX Cooler (08G-P4-6686-KR)

So I guess that was just a misreading from HWINFO as Sajin stated.

I've heard the opposite that's why I swapped to HWINFO. I only use it for monitoring my temps while trying to maintain stability on system. Weirdly maximus x hero can't run a stable stress test with everything on AUTO and XMP Profile enabled but that's not a matter to be discussed here :P

who'd you hear that crap from,  aida64 has superior compatibility over hwinfo, even getting various voltage sensors bios correct instead of being up to 0.3v out.
