In a bid to head off investor worries of a potential downturn, Samsung is looking to tighten their belts in regards to the manufacturing of DRAM. In particular, this move is preempted by the expectation of DRAM bit growth to be less than 20% year-over-year, with bit growth being the key measurement for gauging market demand based on the amount of memory produced. So basically Samsung wants to keep prices for DRAM just the way they are for now.

This is just ridiculous.  Instead of flooding the markets and keeping prices low for consumers, they'd rather stick it to everyone.  When they were a nobody, some people believed in them whether their pockets might catch on fire (I know that came later on. lol) but now that they're standing nice and tall, they can give two flying .....(staying within ToS.)  I hope the other companies charge less and win our business over them.

With the proven price-fixing collusion over and over again within the memory manufacturing industry, don't hold your breath. The other memory manufacturers probably secretly agreed with Samsung that this was a wise decision before Samsung made the announcement official.

Same thing could possibly be said with the panels.  I feel this is happening wide spread everywhere because we've seen some sky high ridiculous price adjustments, not from the usual norm.  You'd think we've skipped 10+ years on top of where we are at.

If the USA and other countries had price fixing fines like the EU does, then this type of action would not fly.  But as it is, the fines that they will get will just be the "cost of doing business" and nothing more.  It's time to step up against these types of anti-consumer actions and start hitting them where it hurts, like the EU does.  It's ridiculous that companies can get away with this (insert favourite expletive here) again and again.
