I got a new monitor for my birthday. I picked up an open box Dell S2716DGR 1440p 144hz 1ms monitor for $310.

So for, I like it. Still playing with calibration to get the best image. I know it's not an IPS, but I can't afford $500 plus for a monitor. Does anyone else have this monitor? Thoughts?

My single GTX 1080 was struggling to play games at 4K above 40 fps with max details, and I have been very curious to see if I would prefer a higher refresh rate. Now, I'm playing at 75 fps average because of the lower resolution. Not to mention that my previous monitor is not really a gaming monitor and this one also has G-Sync.

Based on the specs, I'd say you got a pretty sweet deal at that price...

I picked up one of these from Best Buy for $350 last Christmas holiday for my son, wasn't looking for a monitor but happened to be in Best Buy and came across it at that price, I couldn't pass it up. I had purchased

a PG279Q 7 months prior for myself, even though I like mine if I could return it for full refund and get the Dell even at $500 I would. (never been a fan of Dell either)lol. IMO 1440p 144hz is still the sweet spot, 4k

looks good but I would never go back to 60hz now experiencing high refresh rate.

fergusonll, how do you have your monitor calibrated? I'm having a bit of a time finding color and gamma settings I like. When on desktop/internet anything white has a noticeable red tint, but games look good. If I adjust for the red tint, games become too dark.

I don't have the money to purchase that. Thank you though.

This is my son's monitor, so we have a different opinion on settings, he has set R-91, G-94, B-99 with brightness at 40, contrast at 65. I don't see any visible red tint on his white backgrounds and gaming looks fine

as well. I have my PG279Q a little different than his, the coloring pretty similar but I have brightness/contrast pretty much opposite but not as high as 65. I thought about buying a display calibrator, but didn't want

to spend the money either, so I researched online for PG279Q calibration and looked at a couple sites recommendations and dialed it in that way.

Nice  , I've been eye balling that one, just not sure its high enough refresh rate. Trying to hold out for Asus 200hz that seems to be taking forever to be released.

Check games with dark scenes. This monitor is notorious for having heavy color banding issues as well as pixel inversion (Google "s2716dg color banding"). Certain revisions are better than others. Browse this thread for lots of information: https://www.overclock.net/forum/44-monitors-displays/1577511-dell-s2716dg-1440-144-hz-g-sync-owners-thread-564.html

The latest revisions are A08 and A09 and recent reports state that much of the banding issue is addressed

It's a good monitor when there's no defects. I've owned one and got very unlucky so I sold it. Your mileage may vary.
