So is this why the XC and XC Ultra cost so much more over the $999 MSRP price?  Are they binned overclockable GPUs?

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

This just looks like Nvidia will be binning chips instead of the AIB partners.  It's a good move for Nvidia--they can charge a premium now on those chips.

This is a good question. I'd like to know this myself.

    (excerpt from link in OP)

"NVIDIA is creating two device IDs per GPU to correspond to two different ASIC codes per GPU model (for example, TU102-300 and TU102-300-A for the RTX 2080 Ti). The Turing -300 variant is designated to be used on cards targeting the MSRP price point, while the 300-A variant is for use on custom-design, overclocked cards."

As EVGA Builds ---> "custom-design, overclocked cards." ---> Seems like TU102-300-A is the answer

I doubt that answer will be revealed until someone tears the cooler off of the PCB and looks at their core.

I doubt EVGA is going to lower prices over the core debacle. I can already hear the first world screams and cries of someone paying a silly price and then getting the “lower tier” core. I am going to enjoy reading those threads as people try to get their card replaced if NVidia really does this.

This should help EVGA not having a de-tuned variant card, since chips coming from Nvidia should perform as advertise.
