Hi!

I'm about to rebuild my two GTX 680, clean them up so they act like new.
I'd like to apply new paste (which I got) and that's fine, but under disassembly I guess redoing the pads would be sensible as well.

Which thickness(es) do I need?

This is the exact model:
02G-P4-2680-KR

I've read some that say 0.5MM, others say 1MM, and some say 0.5MM AND 1MM.

Please help me.

I'm not sure of the thickness so I will forward this to EVGA

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Hello DIYglenn! If you re-apply new thermal pads you would want to use ones which are 1.0mm thick. Usually you can buy thermal pads in strips and then cut them down to the length you need.

    Great! Thank you so much.
I actually have some Arctic Cooling 1mm (145x145mm) laying around.

Did the replacement today on my two 680 cards - no problems.
I cleaned everything and replaced with new pads and paste. The difference was minimal, approx 1-2C.

However, I noticed something while testing in Furmark:
While all specs are identical, and pretty much performance as well (1C difference between cards before and after TIM) the TDP is not.
One is 106% and the other is 115%. The fan is also 5% higher on the 115% one.

Is this normal? Does this mean that one of the cards is slightly more effective, requiring less power (and generating less heat) to get the same result?

Normal. One card will always be more efficient than then other.

    Cool, thanks.
Had no idea it could be such a «large» difference.
