So I have a interesting problem. It's not very consistent but it has only happens to me while watching videos of any sort in a browser. What happens is video will freeze and the whole screen will slowly start locking up. So first the video will freeze. Next ill bring up task manager then it will freeze then ill bring up the start bar then it will freeze and I and up having a bunch of random windows frozen on the screen. During all of this my mouse will move around just fine and the num lock is still turning on and off so there is not a full system lockup. I do however have to hit the reset button to fix it because I cant make the corrupter do anything even with keyboard commands. So this is a very strange problem I am having and wondering if anyone here has had a similar problem and or may know a solution to it. I have already spent countless hours on google searching this specific problem but not turning up a whole lot about it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Grey_Beard, that would be my 1st thru 10th thoughts on issue.  Next would be to go the Asus forum/ tech support for this issue.   Also, what OS is being used, & what browser is part of the issue?   

Turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome
 
Test with a different browser
 
Have more than 1 set of sound drivers loaded ?

If your using MB or Sound card --> do Not load the Nvidia sound drivers also - have to select only one
 
 
 

I have not reset to default only because this was a new problem and the hardware has been this way for a long time. Also since I disabled pcie link power management and windows quick start the problem has not happened again for now almost 24hrs. The problem started after the more recent windows update. So I think this my have solved it for now. So thanks for a ll the suggestions. But if this problem starts rearing it ugly head again ill be using the suggestion found here to try to fix it again. Thanks.
