you would of thought there collage educated engineers  would of planed for that   like evga make a case that there own full line  product don't even fit  over just .5 inch  ,, well did that make or break a sale to evga ?   that's funny and the American way
 
something like a 950 would fit   or one of the single fan models 
 or.. you could grab a hacksaw and hammer and do a case mod for that extra .5 inch ?
